You can purchase JR Products' separate item for this purpose. Although it will not fit your old one, it will fit the new one.
If the thickness of the wall you're attempting to mount it to is adequate, you can mount it without a face plate. But I suggest using a face plate. It's designed to be installed in one piece and will save you a lot of time.

My two way celling lights on my motorhome requested a replacement switch, and it was a perfect fit.
The 3-inch version of this works great There are three ways to set it up.
It works great with 12305, but your switch sticks out of the back of the bezel by about a quarter inch, but that is not the fault of the switch, it does a great job IMO.
It matched the other switches I already have and was exactly what I needed.
