I have a 2013 Beetle, and this part fit perfectly; I don't recall the part number from the original, but they looked nearly identical side by side. I hope this information is useful, and best wishes!

Why, on earth, does a lock like this ever wear out? They do, though, and this Tiguan aftermarket lock is a carbon copy. To remove the old one, you'll need a special star wrench (why wouldn't VW just use any wrench?). I got a single star because it matched my ratchet set from the auto store). This aftermarket lock appears to be as good as the OEM Volkswagen lock, but at a fraction of the price.
A few years ago, I was rear-ended by someone, and the replacement unit failed. So far, the performance of this unit has been excellent. I've also noticed that the latch is much less stressed. Maybe it's just the way I set it up, but it doesn't POP when I open it. Unfortunately, I had to buy a small 10-point socket set, but everything else is fine. It was simple to set up.
With patience and consideration; The latch is simple to put in place. You may require assistance from a second person while removing the molding from your vehicle. Also, double-check that you have the proper tools for removing and replacing the latch.
It looks and functions exactly like a factory part, and it's simple to install if you follow the instructions on YouTube! Works 100% for a fraction of the dealer price.
I expected to pay a fortune for it, but it was reasonably priced, of excellent quality, and simple to install. This item has made me very happy.
br>br>Updated 10/1 - After 5 months, it failed, so I guess it didn't live up to its promise!.
It took a while for me to figure out how to disassemble the Tiguan, but once we did, the new lock fit perfectly and functions flawlessly!.
Instructions for a simple replacement can be found on the internet in the form of videos. This part is a fraction of the cost of a genuine VW part, and it's been working flawlessly so far.
