Electric cooling fans are used in most modern vehicles to assist in drawing air through the radiator and keeping the engine cool. Most cooling fans have electric motors that draw a moderate to high amount of current, so they're usually controlled by relays. The cooling fan relay is in charge of the engine's cooling fans. When the correct parameters are met, the relay is activated by a temperature switch or a computer, allowing power to flow to the fans.
When the temperature of the vehicle approaches dangerously high levels, the relay is normally activated. A faulty cooling fan relay will usually cause a few symptoms that alert the driver that service is needed, such as the engine running hot, the cooling fans not working, or the cooling fans staying on all the time. If you suspect that your cooling fan relay is malfunctioning, inspect it and, if necessary, replace it.

Out of the box, it's a faulty product

My fans are still not turning on after I installed the new FCM. I took it to the shop to have it diagnosed, and they informed me that the problem was with the FCM. When I told them I had just replaced it, they said I must have gotten a bad one. It's too late to return it at this point. I'm going to have to buy another one because it was a waste of money. I'll go somewhere else to get the new one. br>br>It was also pulling one. If I left my car sitting for more than a day, it would die. Buying a VW part is a waste of money.

Defective from the start, this relay module was a dud

The module was simple to set up (plug and play), but that was all there was to it. My car's radiator fans continued to run until the battery was completely depleted. I double-checked all mechanical components and wires, and they were all in good working order. The purchase was a huge letdown.

Right out of the box, it was defective. I kept the AC compressor clutch engaged at all times, draining my battery. I replaced it with a new one, which worked perfectly.

To troubleshoot an ac unit that wasn't working, I replaced it, and both fan motors and compressor power were restored. This part worked for about 500 miles after the compressor was replaced before failing. I ordered a different brand and that was the issue. It was a waste of my time.
