A large portion of the steering gear and pinion is made from quite soft, low-density material The metal should be of high grade. With these, I "fixed" my mower for a short time, but after 3 mows of my 1-cycle mower, they stripped out again. There is a half-acre yard. Right hand turns were made to click. Please click here Turn the wheels instead of clicking the mouse again. This was my first attempt at doing this job and not that fun. If you want to do this job well, spend the extra money and get genuine John Deere parts, not this cheap garbage.
Putting it in was no problem due to its perfect fit.
I used it on a LA115. I had to remove the original steering sector. As a result of close clearances, it was not easy to remove the steering sector. If she had skinny fingers, she would have done better. Afterwards, no problem was encountered installing the new parts. If you put the pinion gear on the steering wheel, make sure you center it with the wheels straight. This failure will result in a different turning radius on the left and right sides of the car.
It is recommended that you buy it.
