In my case, I went to John Deere and bought the gear in the store, and the gear is made of a much better material than the parts I bought on line, which were not John Deere parts.
I have never looked at an L111, so I cannot say for sure.
A store is not what I am. Your local John Deere distributor should be able to assist you.
On the steering shaft there are two bushings, an upper one and a lower one. It is therefore necessary to purchase

It is a little challenging to install (I should have watched more online videos before starting) but I got it done and it works well. You will steer the mower like a new one and these parts shouldn't wear out so quickly if you do those things. EDIT
The only reason I gave it only four stars was that I forgot to mention any factors. As part of the kit, only one of the bolts (and in my case, the one that was in a better and more reusable condition) connects the sector gear to the mounting plate. I had to literally scrape off a piece of debris and reattach another that I did not include. They could not possibly have not included it for any reason. It appears that two plastic bushings were included when only one was needed, so maybe this was an error in packaging.
It is made out of such inferior material that all my efforts in replacing the steering wheel for the first time went to waste since the steering only lasted for one season. Now I have to replace it It has been two years since I replaced the steering gear on my beloved, ancient John Deere with an item bought from another seller.
The price was reasonable, and the shipping was fast. While some reviewers have complained of poor quality, you may be satisfied with the results if you install it correctly and shim it properly. Over rough terrain, I've operated the machine for approximately 20 hours and have not had any problems.
Rather than buying John Deere parts, buy John Deere parts. It lasted for 10 seasons in its original form. During this mowing, it lasted six times. A gear roundover had worn out the pivot slide had gained grooves and the gears round over. It is not hard enough to be metal. Your money is not worth it.
must be a special hell for the engineers responsible for designing the nuts and bolts of this work of art. Has a 13 on the test. There is a socket and wrench for the 14/15/17/ 3/4 inches. There's no point in having just one of each. An unsuspecting weld nut has no idea what it.
There is no way to use the steel used to manufacture the pinion gear. All it took was one pass around the yard to strip it Money was wasted on such a useless project.
Under the bracket there are compression nuts that you can't get at with a wrench.
I watched a video on how to replace the steering on YouTube. The deck can be removed (4 pins) and the belt from the clutch removed. Just slide it under the mower and you can get to the parts.
