I had a great deal of trouble installing this
3/5

I installed this kit on my 2006 Fleetwood Gearbox 220FB and was not happy with the customer service. Vehicles such as this one have a maximum load rating of 11,000 pounds. These axles and other components are made by There were a few eyelets on the leaf springs that were beginning to wear through the OEM plastic bushings. A plastic bushing on the OEM Equalizer had completely worn out all along 20 percent of its length. The OEM equalizer was thrown out, so it didn't cause any of my installation issues. Apparently, some of the problems I have installing my kit might be related to the age of the leaf springs. However, I’ve also been in contact with someone who installed the kit and experienced He switched to a Morryde kit when he had given up and had little difficulty getting it to work. The packaging of the product is awful, as another reviewer did not. The kit consists of the following parts Everything from the instructions to the design There was nothing to stop them from colliding as they had been thrown together in one box. Fortunately, one of the parts was still in the Amazon box after it fell out of the Dexter It was the first page of the instructions I had to locate online since it was so faded. Though the It is especially important to follow their instructions regarding the hole alignment of the wet bolt outlet. As stated above, you should adhere to this instruction in order to avoid aligning the grease outlet hole towards the top of the bushing where it will be pushed down due to the weight of the trailer. There are a few supplies you'll need that will help the installation run smoothly. Be sure to read the instructions carefully before getting started. the new bushings are easier to set in place since the 9/16" bolt is easier to drive in. The pipe is designed to fit over the head of the wet bolt and round the zerk fitting, making it easier to drive the bolt into the bushing. By using my bottle jack handle, I was able to lift my bottles. I am sorry to say that the jack handle is now deformed after using this method. It is important to note that the new shackles are beefier than the OEM models. My worries about the shackles breaking are so low that I do not give them a second thought. I was disappointed in the kit's ability to get grease in the wet bolts, which should aid in keeping the suspension from squeaking and can help the bushings last for a long time. Most of the zerk fittings had to be replaced because grease would not go past many of the OEM fittings - grease was leaking from the grease gun coupler and from A brand new grease gun was one of three grease guns I used. I was able to get grease into the bolt after installing new grease fittings. However, I still had several wet bolts that needed a lot of encouragement to let grease flow out of the bolt and into It was the wet bolts in the shackles that caused me the most problems. Here are my recommendations related to the above mentioned issues The following are the main points of the report. Before you install any wet bolt, make sure it works properly. In the event that you cannot get grease past the zerk fitting, replace the There's no need to waste your time on this, as Dexter seems to be using very poor The second point refers to paragraph 2. When grease is getting past the zerk fitting but not coming out of the uninstalled wet bolt, the bolt has a defective outlet hole that doesn't mate up with the hole in the center of the bolt, which might be fixable if you're handy. Dexter will have to replace you if you don't do this. I have outlined below my efforts to replace the device. The third part is a bit complicated. Have a look at the bushings you have installed. How long are they? Are they circular or oval in shape? It will be a challenge to work with ovals. There will be a great deal of reluctance to install the wet bolt This is not to say that it can't be done, but I think it's going to be a difficult task. If the outlet on the wet bolt is on a squished section of the bushing, grease may not escape from the bolt. Similarly, if the outlet is on an angled section of the bushing, grease may not escape from the bolt. By squeezing a section of the bushing, you may become able to get grease out, without getting it to 4
You can try these suggestions if no grease is coming out after the wet bolt was installed, but it tested OK before it was installed. The first four digits refer to the region 4a. You should make sure that no weight is I would like to point out that this is 4b. The suspension can then be rolled up and down with a jack to find a sweet spot where the grease can escape. I'll sign off with a 4c. A light tap of a hammer will remove the leaf spring. br>4d/br> I don't really know how this worked, but it did on one of mine. It might be a good idea to loosen the bolt and then back it out It may be necessary to rotate the bolt a few degrees. I understand that you need to do that. works, try taking the trailer for a drive. Maybe the shock of the drive will loosen the bolt/bushing enough to allow grease to get in. (I didn't have to resort to this, but it was on my list of things to try. ) I agree. I can't help but agree. Are you still experiencing issues? Make sure the grease gun you selected has a high PSI rating. In the end, it was not enough with a 4,000 PSI gun. My next step was to use a grease gun with 10,000 PSI pressure to apply the grease. You won't find a panacea in the heavy-duty grease gun, so don't buy one and think it will solve your problems. The four-gap system is used. You may want to consider getting a replacement from Dexter if you have tried all that. I have outlined below my efforts to replace the device. This paragraph includes five points. You will need to clean the inside of the eyelets of the leaf springs. You may need to sand the inside of the eyelet with 220 sandpaper (they are quite rusty) if you feel the need to. Make sure that the eyelet is clean of debris before rubbing it with sandpaper. I. The language of the proposal. This is a pre- Make sure the bushings and bolts are greased. Then they will be better able to adjust to their new environment. Your guess is as good as mine if you think the above tips are extreme. The process should not have been that complicated.

I contacted Dexter with a question about a technical issue. It took the tech support person a good amount of time to call me back and he As well as other data supportive of the need for replacement of the zerk fittings, he In addition to giving me a part number for the zerk fittings, he recommended that I contact the service It was at that point when things turned sour. The problem is that Dexter's service/warranty department can no longer be contacted because of our phone system woes. Even though I was always #1 in line, I was never able to get a live person from that department on the phone. Dexter's phone system would not allow me to leave a message for the people listed in the service There was an issue with this phone system, I always got connected or returned to the start of the system. It was useless to have the live operator (a useless person) only send me back to the service/warranty department on the phone. A problem was reported on Delter's Contact Us web page online. It appears that none of the submissions I made through that page were successful. A computer error kept happening to me. Two different browsers did not work for me. Despite sending an email to a general Dexter address, I never received an acknowledgement or a response. I have not yet taken the trailer with the suspension upgrade out on the road and have thus not submitted a review regarding it. If I feel the upgrade made an improvement in the trailer's ride quality, I'll update the review. When I consider how difficult I found the installation to be, So long as it does not squeak or break, I'll be satisfied. In the future, if I have to do this again, I will use Morryde.

The product was good, but the packaging was poor
4/5

The 16 ft cargo trailer that I just built has these. Nevertheless, I don't feel right about something. It seems to me that after installation, they should look like a "W". There does not seem to be any problem with the trailer pulling. Don't know where I messed up or what I did.
There seems to be some value in the product but, as some others have said, the packaging is terrible. Could someone please tell me why these look the way As soon as wheels were on ground, I anticipated they would snap into place.

This suspension is a huge upgrade over the stock one
5/5

In comparison to stock parts, this product has a significant improvement in materials. A smoother ride and less bounce seem to be a testament to the construction of the travel trailer. Once we figured out the first side, the installation went pretty quickly. With no prior experience, we took a total of 2 hours to complete. I was able to get the job done in 5 hours.

Having two floor jacks helps with parts alignment, and having air tools speeds up the job. The only negative aspect is In some instances, equalizer zerks can be hard to access when the tires are There is absolutely no way to get to the equalizer zerks without a grease gun and flexible hose.

The situation has greatly improved
5/5

A great deal was to be had on the kit. Installing the product took about two hours. Having skills that others may not have is important (I am a technician).

Now that noises from the suspension of our RV have stopped, we can sleep whole. It is also more stable, isn't it? In any case, it's hard to tell because fifth wheel trailers are super stable and I tow a 15,500 gvwr fifth wheel with a Yes, of course. It's really nice to be able to grease the bolts and when I pulled the pedi bushings out to replace them with bronze ones, the pedi ones were cracked and worn through in some places on an This is well worth the effort for.

There is a need for These sit atop my 24 ft Keystone Bullet TT, which weighs 5400 lb
4/5

A great improvement has been made to the ride. I like my driving more when it bounces less, makes less noise, and corners less. It was only one fitting that did not take grease that deducted a star. Upon pulling it, I found that the hole wasn't drilled far enough to reach the grease outlet on the side. My hole is now a quarter inch bigger after drilling the extra quarter inch. To make sure the bolts work, you should run your grease through their heads before installation. It was not very appealing to the eye. It surprised me that so much was in there and none of the grease fittings were missing.

It is no help to use Dexter There are parts missing
3/5

One wet bolt, one nut, and one bushing were missing from my kit upon receipt. It's my fault for not counting, but I was just excited to use the product. It has been several years since I contacted Dexter, and they said they couldn't help I would need to disassemble the entire thing and send it back if I wanted to return it. The parts are only $5 and I would imagine a lot of work is involved. I will check with my local dealers to see if they can assist. So far, Dexter has no way of helping himself. The least I can say is that I am disappointed.

The new replacement is great
5/5

This was a replacement for my original ones that got bent by a frame defect. I had to add cross member bracing to the The process led me to the decision that it would be best to replace any other parts damaged in the process. Compared to towing my trailer, there is a huge difference. Pulling is no longer out of alignment and is reduced in movement.

I give this upgrade an A++! The trailer feels much smoother and tows much better now
5/5

When I went out for my first trip after the install, a friend followed me and commented on how smooth the trailer rode. Even though the road shocks were abated by the tires and suspension, the trailer remained flat Likewise, there is much less movement of the contents. This upgrade is fantastic! As I mentioned before, it does not have shocks and I was contemplating adding them as well, but I am not sure if they would be necessary.
