The bracket and actuator are the two parts. I love how it fits. A simple process of installation is required. The bolts and plugs are three in number.
Those who live in 2008 and later can use it

As for the issues I had in receiving this on my Mercury Mariner premier 2010 model, it should have fit and it did, but here are the issues I encountered. The plan was mainly to replace the original (even though it was working just fine) with the new one, and then keep the old one as a spare in case the new one failed. In removing the old unit to fit this I noticed that the mounting bracket is larger than I think it needs to be. Also, one of the bolt holes had a weird thread, it allowed the bolt to tighten but did not seem to be correct or turn easily. As far as I was concerned, the biggest issue I had was the connectors for the wires to plug into they fitted very, very, very tightly, I can't emphasize enough how tight they fit. As I mentioned, I did fit them to test the unit. They worked perfectly and I also didn't see any warning lights about the tailgate opening not being closed. When it came to removing it from the car, I was at a loss. The original disconnected easily, especially the wiring connectors, but this one didn't, and I thought I was going to cut the wires trying to get it out, but I managed it but part of one of the connectors was still attached to the lock end while a couple pieces remained. In my opinion, the unit should not have been there because I was unsatisfied with the fit and thought what would it be like in a few years if it failed, I might not be able to This product has been returned today since I had serious concerns about it when it arrived today.
I hope this is helpful to anyone who is thinking about trying this unit, it is just the risk you take with aftermarket units, most of the time they fit fine but this one did not.
I replaced this item on a 2009 Mazda Tribute (Ford Escape). It fits and works perfectly. This unit works better than the OEM because the old one would not release the latch. There does not appear to be any significant difference between OEM and this device.
I've found it's perfect for my 2012 Ford Escape it works well.
I love how easy it is to install and how well it fits.
The product is what was described on the website, and it worked perfectly on the car.
My favorite part was the price, but I found that installing it was really simple. As of now, everything is working fine. Hopefully it will be of good service to me. I like it a lot.
