Using a torx-ended wrench or screwdriver will be necessary for this task. I have a set and use the one that fits in it. I don't know the size.
In September 2018, I bought mine, and it quit a few months later in In addition, I intend to try out their warranty.
It fit and is still working at a reasonable price, but I am not sure if it is the right one

I am looking for a liftgate that would fit my 2010 Ford Escape. Once the lift gate's interior plastic panel has been removed, the actuator can be easily installed, with the exception of one wire connector failing to fix itself. During the five minutes I was working with it, it became quite difficult. On the first morning when the latch failed to open after repeatedly trying, having the actuator on the car for a week did not help. The later version of the program worked. I then tried it again and it failed. I used this item this morning and it worked. There are intermittent problems with the system. My next step will be to check if the torx bit screws have loosened. This could be the cause of the latch switch not working consistently. However, I did put thread locker on the threads. Once I return this item to the Ford dealer, I would prefer not to pay the dealer $135 for the OEM part. I am hesitant about returning this latch actuator.
After watching a YouTube video on how to replace the part, I tried it out. It seemed pretty easy. Dielectric grease was ordered for the electrical contacts on the part. Had I ordered a hex bit as well, I would have been better off. From start to finish, it took less than 20 minutes with the right tools. If Amazon combined all of the necessary parts, including the replacement gasket to prevent a repeat of the problem, it would be nice.
There was a problem opening the trunk of the Ford Escape. It explained the issue and how it could be fixed in YouTube. Having this part answered the question and enabling us to resolve the issue on our own was a great help.
This is an easy-to-install program. The video just popped up on YouTube. In just ten minutes, the software was installed. The software functions like OEM software.
It is fantastic to see that the lift gate on the 2012 Ford Escape Hybrid works once again! YouTube and Amazon have become indispensable to home repairs, and I can't remember what we did without them. We are glad this does not need to be done.
I purchased this product to replace the rear hatch latch on my 2012 Ford Escape and it worked perfectly. As I read in another review that the door ajar feature of this product did not work, I found it extremely difficult to push the electrical connector into the receptacle on this item, so I used channel locks to gently seat the two connectors together and it works perfectly as it should.
I bought this for my Ford Escape 2009. Once you watch YouTube, you can perform a quick installation. The dealer will charge 400$ for 65$, but you'll pay 65$ for it.
