The job seemed to go well. I was able to use it for about 2 or 3 attempts, but then nearly destroyed my It went fine on the installation, but the orange clamp I used on the exterior handle rod is the wrong size, just like all four of these I've As an alternative, I used the one off the OE actuator knowing that I would have to use it. This method did seem to work for about 15 seconds (the hole is too small and the clips don't stay closed)
After attempting to open and shut the door several times to check its function, it failed, somehow internally, and I was unable to open it. A door could not be opened regardless of whether it was locked or unlocked, inside or outside. The experience was nothing short of It is impossible to remove the door panel because it butts against the dashboard. I had to wrestle with the panel and contort my arm for hours to get it out. There are a lot of wire ties, and cable anchors on the door, not to mention how sharp all the holes are. As if I'd fought with a bobcat, my arms look like they'd been ripped apart. As I beat, prodded, and pryed until it was freed, eventually it was A saws all and/or a grinder were my only options if it wouldn't release, and maybe a new door panel was also necessary. A $30 latch proves to be the root of all evil. The purpose of this post is more of a general analysis of these aftermarket parts. In this case, you will receive what you have paid When I bought OEM to replace it, I didn't realize that the alternative was not worth the small savings in aftermarket.
I have a 2008 Silverado 1500 in which this fits perfectly. Throughout the dealership I bought the truck from, both door latches had been replaced. 3 years after the car was purchased, the driver's side began to not lock or unlock with the remote, and shortly thereafter, the passenger's door developed random issues in that it would not unlatch to open. During the same period of time, I replaced both the driver and the passenger latches. YouTube has plenty of videos for guiding you through the installation process, even if you're not the most technical person. In the end, only time will tell if it will be durable, but at this price, I think I could replace it several times for under what an OEM latch costs.
The solenoid came with my 2008 Avalanche and was installed in the passenger door. As soon as I replaced the part, it worked exactly as the one I removed. Despite having been installed for just two weeks, some issues have arisen. I had some trouble reinstalling the door panel at first, but that was the only real challenge I faced. A video that I watched on U Tube was repeated several This didn't seem like a big deal, but mine didn't go on that easily and I broke a tab in the upper right corner, yet I was so careful and meticulous, I don't know how it happened, but it wouldn't During the repair, I did not do any repairs. My clip was out of date, and I didn't feel like taking it off to find a new At some point, I will replace the computer. Let me know if there is any way you might know what kind of clip I need and where I might find one if they ARE replaceable. I thank you and wish you the best.
I feel like the door will open. I can manipulate the handle both inside and outside of the door, but it does not unlock. Using a hacksaw, I will slice through the inside door panel and see what I can do to get my door open and remove this.
The mechanic put it on with no problem, but when we opened the package, it was broken, so the item would not have worked. Having not returned it on time, I could not get it back. Make sure to check the box when it arrives.
Because it was essentially the same part, the price was way below the dealer's. By doing it myself, I saved hundreds of dollars.
There was a problem with the item. Closing a normal door would not allow it to close properly. After closing the door, I had to push on it in order to latch it. This problem was corrected by an OEM part.
A few months ago, we bought it and it worked for a short period of time. Now it is not working anymore. Several weeks ago, the latch stopped working, and it would lock only occasionally, making the door impossible to My door would not open or close, and I was worried I would have to hire someone to open it, but starting this week my door will be able to lock and unlock manually. I also ordered a replacement from another website that will hopefully be more efficient than my current one.
