My trunk would not open no matter how hard I pressed the button on the remote or tried to open it with the trunk button. I put up with it for a while until one day we went to the wholesale store and came out after spending over 30 minutes trying to open the trunk and another 10 minutes trying to keep it closed. When we got home, I went to Amazon to find one, and after doing some research and reading a lot of reviews, I decided on this one. I was still apprehensive, fearful that it wouldn't be the right solution or that it wouldn't fit. We did, however, look for a video to show us how to put it together. I can attest to the fact that it was extremely simple to set up. Oh, and we saved over a hundred dollars by ordering it from Amazon instead of paying $120 or more at the auto part store.
I'm sorry to have to give this product such a low rating, but the vehicle power plug that is supposed to fit into the latch hardware socket does not. Because it won't seat properly, the pins won't make electrical contact, so I had to remove one side of the socket wall. The vehicle male connector would only fit into the latch socket after that, which was a real pain. I then secured the connector to the latch body with electrical tape. Stay away from this manufacturer if you are not inclined or disposed to wasting a lot of time or messing with the socket in any way. There is a significant difference between the OEM and replacement sockets. It worked flawlessly after I made the necessary changes and installed the latch.
For a 2015 Chevy Malibu, I bought this. The fit is perfect, and the installation is simple. When you compare the price of this unit to the prices at local auto stores, it's clear that this is a no-brainer purchase. Oscar's YouTube video walks you through the setup process. To remove the mounting screws, all that is required is a Torx T30 wrench. Different screws might be used in other vehicles.
This item is fully functional. To be honest, I'm not sure if it's of high quality. whether or not it is of good quality I put it on my brother-in-law-in-law-in-law-in- Since he can't make a sandwich, he's hiding in the trunk of his brother-in-law. It's a quarter the price of OEM products, but given that it only has to keep a door shut, I believe you're getting a good deal.
My husband isn't a mechanic, but he was able to find the information I needed online and install it for me. I saved about $200 by doing it myself instead of paying a mechanic. It was money well spent.

This was the best purchase I could have made. It simply went back on like the GM part I removed and worked flawlessly, with no blown fuses and full functionality of the key fob and push button. This is a fantastic section.
I no longer have any trunk problems with my car.
