Questions & Answers

The rpms of units will be measured how far away?

As part of our science fair application (recording radiometer rotations), we had to get within about 10 cm of true readings to be accurate. My apologies, I am very limited in what I can offer.

Is it capable of reading small or large engine rpms?

A tool like this can be used to measure the RPM of any engine equipped with a 2-speed transmission 1 , 2, 3 The following explanation may be appropriate 3- The propeller blades are arranged in a series. This display shows the rotation rate in four digits, with a range of up to 32,000 rotations per minute.

Does this work for an engine on a lawn mower?

Unless there is a way to expose the blades of the mower (very dangerous), there is no way that it could be used for that purpose. The propeller of the model airplane acts as a shutter, interrupting the light going to a photo cell. A word would be

Is it necessary to install reflective strips on the unit?

No, there is no need to add reflective strips to It is important that you keep in mind that when you are looking over your RPM, you may get false results due to the florescent light. Make sure the propeller is spinning at the recommended RPM when you check the front and back. One tip to check your tachometer is to set the dial to 2 to see if it is functioning correctly Use a florescent light prop to point the blade. Each time, you should get 3600 revolutions per minute.

The value for money is very good, and the accuracy is excellent
5/5

Buying this item for my Beechcraft Bonanza allowed me to test the accuracy of my mechanical tachometer. The delivery notes listed by Amazon indicated that it arrived within the specified time frame. * The box opens when it is opened. As I thought it was a toy, I was a bit disappointed. I'm accustomed to the digital Tach, but this is not it. Truetach II is one such example. My AST device was calibrated so I tested it against my own AST instrument. It was just as accurate as the calibrated ATS unit, which was extremely pleasant to see. It does have only one limitation, due to its size, in that it won't stay on the glare shield on an airplane and there is no way to read it unless you tilt it, and then you may receive the To read it for you, you need someone to hold it and hold it for you. Now, if the company can come up with a bracket attachment that allows the light to be turned directly towards the propeller at the correct angle then their product will earn a perfect 10 star rating The same applies to where it goes from. The blade is 2 inches. This blade is 9 blades long! It is the first time I have seen an aircraft with 9 blades. My unit had two blades and it was the first one I saw when the unit was turned on, so I did not have to re-set the number of blades. My overall opinion is that it is highly recommended.

An aircraft that is full size The work
5/5

My Cherokee 6 long nose's rpm were too low so I got this to check. It had been reviewed by another person who indicated that it worked on their airplane, so I ordered one to test it out. During a sunny day, it gets through the windscreen and a few feet to a full-size prop with no problem.

I used this on a Cessna 172 and it worked well
5/5

To test the accuracy of the mechanical tachometer in the Cessna 172, this tool was excellent. I conducted this experiment by peering through the windscreen of the car as daylight was streaming in. Result that can be repeated over and over.

In the programming process, there is pain
3/5

I have to go through the props every time I turn it on, and it only works during daylight hours. The total number of them is nine.

I like how it works, but I dislike how you have to keep cycling through the number of options
4/5

The working feature of it is great, however, it's really inconvenient to have to cycle through the blades each time. As well, it is very easy to accidentally hit the button and change the blade count. Therefore, if you get a reading that does not make sense, do not ignore it. Blade number can be adjusted by using the settings.

I am glad
3/5

For the time being. I am happy with the results. I have had the original one for 15 months, but after very light use (once a week if I'm lucky) the display has broken down and I cannot read it. This led to the purchase of another reluctantly.
