In my opinion, a boat operator would not want an hour meter mounted at the operating position I often think that watching an hour meter is like watching paint dry. Is there any reason that mounting it somewhere near the engine using the wire provided could be problematic?
Due to the fact that it works via induced current from the spark plug wire, you might have to wrap your longer wire a few times around the spark plug wire to compensate for the voltage drop in the longer wire.
On You Tube, I found a number of videos that explained the process quite clearly. The search engine I used to find this information was "how to install an hour meter".
A tachometer is not a tachometer. There is nothing fancy about this meter but it tells the time

I was disappointed when I received it. The compass came in a bubble wrap pouch without a zip tie or instructions for installation. My ignorance of how to install it would have been complete without watching how it could be done on YouTube. A wire is wrapped 5 times around a sparkplug wire and the other end is stuffed into a slot on the meter in order for the induction wire to work. During installation of the induction cable on my riding tractor mower, I found it was too short to route the wire in a less conspicuous location since the spark plug is located in the front. I wanted to install the meter in the dash cowl where an optional meter would be mounting in the future, and drill a hole in the cowl so that I could run the wiring Sadly, the wire was too short to fit between the hood and cowl housing, so I had to run it through the gap. Mickey Mouse really does look like this. It may be necessary to splice some new wires, and hoping there isn't a voltage drop that renders the meter inoperable. Still, the meter does seem to work just fine on its own. I believe, however. An internal battery keeps track of how many hours have passed since the machine was turned on. Sadly, the battery is sealed in potting resin, which means that duplicates cannot be created. In the event of a dead battery, the meter is no longer useful. Despite the meter's shortcomings, it works in general, but lack of instructions, short induction wire, and lack of mounting parts make it a bit frustrating This product gets a solid 3 stars because of its replaceable battery.
You can't go wrong with this It has been a pleasure working with you. It seems to be a good product, from the outside. Their instructions are not provided, so here's how to install it. There is a slot on the back of the meter. In this slot, you should push one end of the wire so that the entire slot is stuffed with wire. Deepen the slot by pushing the card deeply. You will then need to wrap the rest of the wire around the spark plug wire. I used 6 wraps and I cut off any wire Wrapping may also be done with fewer or more wraps. It held well after I used (3M Scotch 5952 VHB Tape) but I also used the screws to attach since I had them.
A wire slot is too wide on the back of the hour meter for the support wire, causing the wire to vibrate loose when the motor runs, striking 2 on the hour meter. Originally, the description said that the hour meter included double sided tape that would help secure it during installation. This one does not come with double sided tape. In addition to that, I installed it in the new generator as soon as I started it. A blue smudge has appeared on the LCD screen, and the screen is now difficult to see. The third strike has been made! The past few times I've purchased from Amazon, I've had great luck, but for some reason this purchase was a dud!.
My WEN DF475T generator is now fitted with this module.
Used a wire tie to secure the spark plug after wrapping 6 turns of the included wire around We chose to mount the meter part with Velcro instead of drilling and using screws to attach it to the generator frame. The generator has been started and has been timed. The value remained at 0 six minutes after the last update. An hour and a tenth. Then 12 minutes later, the value changed from 0 to 1. The duration of that time is two I find this meter to be highly accurate for being It is recommended. Please note.
Installation is easy because it only requires 2 screws, and the induction wire makes it simple to This monitor was put on my generator, and the plug wire was five turns tight. The meter picks up perfectly when the generator is Nevertheless, I'm quite pleased with its performance so far. I still need to confirm accuracy, but so far, it seems pretty accurate.
The hour meter is a great piece of equipment. One of my mowers didn't come with an hour meter factory installed, so I bought this to keep track of how many hours it is running. only takes a minute to install around the Spark Plug, and then zip tie it away from the Spark Plug. Making the task of maintaining equipment and tracking when certain maintenance is needed much easier.
Deliveries that take a long time This software is easy to install. The program works great! This is a very easy to install product It only takes a few minutes to wrap sparkplug wire 6 Place the wire in the slot in the back of the unit 8 times. Those are the only two steps. It's too good to be true! A bad thing is My order was placed on the 8th of July and arrived on the 15th of May Therefore, it was shipped from China by a "slow boat"*. Also, no screws were included Velcro was the only option I had.
Despite the fact that there were no installation instructions, this software was easy to install. The process for installing it was the same as for three other inductive hour meters that I have installed. There is no specific number of times that the signal wire needs to be wound around the spark plug wire. According to the instructions from my previous meters, five to six times should suffice. In my case, I used a tie Wire wraps may be good for holding wires in place, as well as electrical tape. It would be great if the Better only showed RPM because my other units do, and I like to see how the motor performs when it is on a load versus when it is unloaded.
