Questions & Answers

What is the difference between the three Amazon products sold by this company?

User "BJ" stated incorrectly in the previous answer that "The HR - 8061- 2 is a 2-cycle engine-only hour meter and tachometer." The HR- 8061- 2 is suitable for ALL one or two cylinder two or four cycle gasoline engines. On Amazon right now (as of this writing), there are three Hardline hour meters, some of which include a tachometer. They are: *HR- br>br>br>br>br>br>br>br>br> 8061- 2 (this page's version) - There is a tachometer and an hour meter on the dashboard. It's designed for engines with one or two cylinders that run on two or four cycles. This model's hour meter isn't reprogrammable. br>* HR - Human Resources - Human Resources - Human Resources - Human Resources 8067- There is a tachometer and an hour meter on the dashboard. It's designed for engines with one or two cylinders that run on two or four cycles. This model shows oil, air filter, and other service intervals and alerts, which can be reset at any time. br>* HR - Human Resources - Human Resources - Human Resources - Human Resources 8063- ONLY the hour meter is in use. According to Hardline's website, it is compatible with ALL two or four cycle engines, regardless of cylinder count. It comes with two resettable "trip meters." It is not possible to reset the main hour meter.

Why is it that this only works with two cylinders?

Ask the manufacturer; I have three of these, one on a rotary hoe, one on a lawnmower, and the third on a Tohatsu 4 stroke outboard with two cylinders, and they all work perfectly.

For a three-cylinder engine, what is the best hour/tach meter to use?

You will require HR-related services. 8062- Engines ranging from 2 to 8 cylinders are available in two different models.

What are your thoughts on this one? Wire tach is distinct from others because it has black, red, and white wires. I'd like to use one to fine-tune a lawn mower and a tiller. ?

Simply wrap the wire around the spark plug wire, and you're done; this tach comes with instructions for calibrating it for one or two cylinders.

I was given a unit that was more than two years old and had a shorter lifespan
3/5

On my Echo PB-II, I had one of these hour meters/tachs. When I bought the 770T backpack leaf blower new in 2013, it was still in perfect working order when I sold it this month after 7 years of service in November 2020. The fact that these units display hours and rpms is appealing to me. They appear to be extremely durable, and mine lasted for quite some time. It is important to note that the battery that powers this device is sealed inside the device and cannot be replaced. The manufacturer estimates that the battery will last for about 10 years before it needs to be replaced. After being pleased with the first HArdline hour meter, I purchased a second one for the new Echo PB-100 in November 2020. To replace my old back pack blower, I bought an 8010 T. I immediately installed the Hardline hour meter on the new blower after receiving it. As I was unpacking it, I realized that this hour meter had been in my possession for more than TWO YEARS! The back of these units has a manufacturing date on it, indicating that the one I got in November 2020 was actually made on October 10th 2018! This means the battery is already two years old, and because it's a sealed unit, I'm losing two years of life. I am dissatisfied with the fact that the company or seller is selling such old inventory!.

Tachometer is a digital version of an OEM unit made in America

When you can get it in black for only $27 shipped for free from Amazon (whose name sounds like the metal "steel"), why pay $99 (whose name sounds like the metal "steel")? NOT. WORK. ON. MAGNETO. COIL. ENGINES. Due to my inability to use it, I'm only giving it one star. Despite the fact that everything I read said it could be used on any small engine, it doesn't say it can't be used with magneto coil systems. Perhaps I should have read between the lines while looking up the installation instructions? It's for my 21-hp Briggs and Stratton Intec Twin, which has magneto coils, of course. This is not stated anywhere, including on the Hardline Products official website, and I believe it should be clarified. It appears to be useful, but all I can do is stare at it as it sits in its package on the workbench.

My Honda Generator is up to the task
5/5

This is what I put on my Honda 2200EU (2018 model!). This one is nice, easy to install, wrapped around the spark plug wire as instructed, and it also detects the RPM, as the one built in is very basic and goes in increments of 100 hours; this one is nice, easy to install, wrapped around the spark plug wire as instructed; it also detects the RPM. In energy saver mode, the RPM should be around 2800, according to the Honda manual, which it appears to pick up. I used self-tapping screws to attach the handle to the plastic. I've seen people install it on the inside of the generator as well, but that would necessitate the use of a bracket; however, it looks factory on the outside.

that could be quickly installed using either a drill or a screwdriver screw-and-screw-and-screw-and-screw on - peel- as well as-stick- depending on the situation I now have four of these high-quality, extremely attractive one-of-a-kind items

Tach/Hour wire meters that were simple to install with either a drill or a screwdriver screw-and-screw-and-screw-and-screw on - peel- as well as-stick- depending on the situation Unfortunately, I wasted money on other Tach/Hourmeter brands sold here in this price range (and for much less), all of which have wildly inaccurate Tach readings, fewer features, and, as I now know, are not as classy looking as the HR-100. 8061- After failing to get stable or accurate Tach readings on those "other" underperforming units, even after experimenting with different selectable firing intervals, 2, 3, 4, or 5 turns of the sense wire neatly coiled around the sparkplug wire, in BOTH directions from the sparkplug(! ) I decided to give this more expensive HR-related product a try. 8061- 2 meter. This Hardline Products device displays (engine turned off) with a press-to-start button. and hold the Max RPM in Tach mode - with the help of a press and press and hold the "Number of engine starts" button in Hours mode, with the MaxRPM being able to be selectively reset each run time by simply holding down the meter's single button. br>When I first installed it on my four-year-old log splitter, it displayed 71 engine recoil starts, reminding me of how many days of work and juice/water breaks I had taken. On my 4- Apart from keeping track of the run times for engine oil changes, the maxRPM on the stroke engined weed wacker was 9,860! When the engines are running steadily under load, one unit on each of my orange 2000W and yellow 3100W Inverter Generators shows an ACCURATE stable, unchanging RPM reading. Because you have access to the hour reading (for example, 48. 1) Re-start the engine while it is still running. Data about upcoming fueling or oil changes can be recorded and acted on. As a 70- Take it from a retired career MotorCycle (Car/Truck/PowerEquipment) mechanic: this is the ONLY Tach/Hour Meter you should buy.

RPM/tachometer is not accurate
3/5

On my motorcycle, it's been installed. br>The reading is wildly inaccurate and inconsistent. At one stoplight, it says I'm idling at 1100 rpm (which is correct), while at others, it says 2500 rpm (which is incorrect). This is with no throttle and long stoplights. My RPMs are over 14000 when I ride, according to the computer. This is concerning because my bike has a redline of 8000 and a top speed of 9000. And this was only at 3/4 throttle (a steady cruise, not a redline). This product is effectively rendered useless as a result of this. br>.
