However, the air compressor hour meter appears fairly accurate

I used it on my air compressor and it is not the strongest. Rather than 5 stars, I gave 3 stars because the display screen has now developed a black spot after only 2 hours of use. Despite the fact that it doesn't yet cover up the numbers, it are not far off. Additionally, it is supposed to have adhesive on the back so that you can stick it to anything. The options I had were not available to me. A hole had to be drilled in it and a screw fastened it.

A vibration doesn't need to be very strong to be counted

It counts when the tractor engine is running and the dashboard is in use. Suitable as a backup for hour meters driven by cable.

I used it as described

My strategy was to use two sided tape to attach to a Honda EU2200 generator. This product works exactly as advertised. I checked the accuracy with a WWV clock and found it to be dead on. This is an excellent product for the price.
