The rated current is 20 amps and that is the maximum it can handle safely. You will get a better price with a higher amperage if you have a high output alternator. Solar panels and wind generators, which are unlikely to generate high currents, are ideal candidates for this type of unit.

It works well. I had to zero my meter a little to match my lab meter at a 2A feed, but that's Due to my lab power supply going only to 5A, I did not check loads in the 20A range. Due to the mechanical fragility of the watch, I cracked the bezel and discovered that it was not water resistant. The face plastic is peeling off because I wore it too long Since I used 32) so, technically, it's my fault, but the dimensions are defined in classic metric in an American Michigan so the closest hole saw I had to meet the needed, slightly below, 2 7/8" inch I had to modify the meter more in order to mount it due to the three mounting screw holes being close to the cut line. This is going in the right direction, I think. It would be easy to center the meter on the 3" hole and glue it to the housing (plastic box) with silicone if I did it over. Screws should be left at home. A 4 might be a better rating if the price were less.
