It is likely that you will find your engine smoking someday if you have a leaking valve cover gasket. It is a hard plastic gasket that is installed at the factory, after several years, after which the soft pliable gasket is no longer usable. There will usually be a leak at the rear on the passenger side (exhaust), dripping oil onto the hot exhaust. This will cause a smell at first and then most likely smoke if it gets very bad. You can do this repair yourself in about an hour for less than $50 if you have a few basic tools. Dealers will charge you about $500 for this fix. You can find videos on YouTube. You can really do it quite easily. As far as the gasket itself is concerned, it is a perfect match and Fel-coated There is no need to worry about the quality of Pro gaskets, as they have been in the business for many, many years. Do not be fooled by the dealer who tells you that you need a BMW gasket. Grommet kits, Fel-Tech tapes, and other supplies may also be necessary To complete the job, you will need the Pro ES 72490. The 15 grommets that go on top of the bolts holding the valve cover in place. While they should be OK, it would be better to get new ones, since you have them off. Therefore, you should avoid paying for this service and perform it The money you just saved could be used to buy a lot of things!.
This motor has a torque of 0i. I urge you to take caution with the valve cover on the e53 motor, soooooo many people crack them when removing them and putting them on. In spite of this, this is not an easy task but you can do it yourself. You should take time to read your service manuals, or watch videos on the internet of people replacing the gaskets and grommets on the valve cover. If you order this product, don't forget to pick up a grommet set! Furthermore, while the engine is apart you should replace all of the spark plugs! Get 2 tubes of gasket sealer to do this work effectively, you will be glad you did! It is a big task for a beginner, so you will need to dedicate a good deal of your day to it.
Despite being rated #1 for decades, there is a good reason for it. Several of my BMW's have been fitted with this gasket and it has worked beautifully. I love the blue color that matches my Mishimoto hose. There is no wrong way to do things Definitely a pro. These were also installed on my 1969 Plymouth Barracuda in the early 1980's. I have never encountered a problem.
Probably the greatest of all time. BMW gasket set for 5L engines. By using a high temp red RTV on the head mating side, all leaks were prevented. The gasket did not leak oil or vacuum despite an inoperable CCV/PCV that was leaking so badly that the top end of the engine was over-pressurized. There are no new valve cover grommets in this kit, so be sure to get a new set of those as well.
This is a great valve gasket. It's a pleasure to be in the presence of This is pro The baskets I have used on my old car for transmissions are excellent. It has never been a problem for me. I bought this one expecting the same and was not disappointed. I love the product, the price is great, and the quality is great.
My valve cover was perfectly compatible with this gasket. The material is thick and very pliable. As well as the spark plug gaskets, they fit perfectly. If you want to purchase the grommets separately, you will probably need to do so. It was very mangled and squashed when I picked mine up. You can find them on Amazon under the name These grommets are from Pro ES 72490.
I found it to be perfect. With 15,000 miles on the odometer, no leaks have been detected.
The valve cover had to be removed since I suspected the gasket was leaking. Not one component of the system failed, including the plastic valve We re-used this set and were pleasantly surprised by how pliable it It comes with one but I'd buy again if it didn't come with that.
