It was the perfect fit. The new gasket has more flexibility and is a little thicker than the old gasket with 80,000 miles. This joint is very difficult to see if it leaks oil, but if it does, it will get all over the engine, steering hoses, and the rest of the engine compartment. The repair, while not super easy, was not out of the realm of possibilities for many DIYers. During the summer of 2004 a 330CI was fitted with this. Getting the valve cover gasket and the VANOS line replaced first was my last attempt to stop the leak. I also bought new belts, thinking that the ones on the car were originals and I'm Despite its age and cracks, the main serpentine seemed in good condition. As for the idler pulley on the main belt, it will also have to be replaced it is dry, but the tensioners are fine. In my examples, I used 1 instead of 2. An open end wrench that I had filed slightly in order to fit the reverse thread fan clutch works perfectly giving it a sharp tap with the hammer makes it very easy to remove. It is fairly straightforward to replace the gasket and the oil filter housing other than removing the alternator, fan, radiator shroud, and filter box to get to the oil filter housing. You do not have to drain the oil. Open the cap to the oil filter and let it drain down. As a first step, you should remove the top connection of the VANOS line to make the filter housing easier to move and to access.
Weeping oil can happen from many sources, but if you can't pinpoint it, chances are the gasket in the oil filter housing is leaking. One more common source is the valve cover gasket, but this leak almost always occurs in the lower corner first, causing the smell to waft into the cabin. You'll need this part if your exhaust manifold does not smell like burned oil (you don't have drips on it).
Originally installed on a 2003 BMW I liked the fit of the garment. It is vital that you thoroughly clean the oil filter housing and the mating surfaces on the block prior to installing it. Make sure the bolts on the block are not overtorqued or you will damage them.
The only reason I gave it only 4 stars is because I have only had this product for a month, which means that I can't tell if it will be durable after all. IMPORTANT NOTE Make careful sure to tighten the aluminum housing block bolts when you're doing the job yourself, or the housing block may cross thread. It's okay to take it easy.
A gasket that comes with OEM vehicles. This oil filter housing is designed to fit my 2002 BMW E46. The oil dripped onto my exhaust and gave off a burning oil smell. Mine, too, leaked so badly it would drip onto my exhaust, contaminating the whole cabin. A rotted and brittle gasket was replacing the old one. That's it! Now there's no Thanks a lot!.
In contrast to the old one, which was very brittle, this one has completely eliminated.
I've been getting 6-inch oil deposits on my driveway every night for the last year! I would say that while the job was a little involved, the job is a good match!.
The gasket fits the oil filter housing on a 2006 BMW X5. It is zero. The product was exactly what I wanted. Following the replacement of the valve cover and oil filter housing gaskets there is no longer any oil leak.
