Under the upper intake, there is a bolt located on top right that is difficult to handle for some people. You may be able to remove the bolt if you remove the alternator and have a short socket. You can make the process of removing/installing the drive belt easier by taking a picture of the routing before you remove The coolant hose will need to be removed in order to access the bolt in the back if you are doing the oil cooler gasket as well. When you are finished bleeding your cooling system, remember to drive after you have done so.
I haven't experienced any leaks since the seals fit perfectly. I have updated. Approximately 9 months after the seals were installed, they It appears that something went wrong with this brand, because it isn't a bad brand. As I look at them, I can see the place where they are broke down and the oil is There appeared to be a collapse of the main body of the seal. They even had a valley down the middle of them. A new mahle was purchased instead of a different brand, which I compared to the old one. I found the other brand to be a lot heavier and more firm.
It is notorious that two of the gaskets within the oil filter housing on an '08 BMW X3 30si V6 leak. I think they're a great value and they're a good fit. Packaged together, they have the same features. You should install with a dry installation and torque the nut to the correct amount. I weigh lb. Make sure to watch the videos on how to do this correctly. Buy replacement bolts as well since they are aluminum bolts and will be used only once. If you try to reuse them, they will snap on torque. This advice should not be tested you will kick yourself later on.
It would have been 5 stars but the original design of the gasket implies that it will fail after about 50,000 or so miles and will need to be replaced.
Taking care of my leak was not a fun task, but it was necessary.
You will at some point have to replace the oil filter housing gasket if you own a BMW powered by the NN52 engine. At around 75k miles, I performed this as preventative maintenance. Most likely it could have been 90 or even 95 One hundred thousand. Anyhow, it's better to make the change during your free time than getting hit with a massive oil spill in an emergency situation. There is an extra gasket sitting there, it appears to be a spare for an oil cooler that is not used on the engine in question.
It made sense to replace both gaskets even though I only had an oil cooler leak. It was a good decision while it was apart, and I am glad I did it. As for the oil filter housing gasket, it looked like it would only last a little while before leaking. At the time I replaced it, my 2010 BMW 528i (N52) had 109k miles on We've experienced no leaks in the few hundred miles we've driven!.
Polyurethane material is used to make this seal thick and pliable Unlike wood, rubber material has a high degree of resistance This is a long lasting replacement seal that will prevent your oil from leaking. I had no issues fitting my 2006 BMW 3 liter engine, but installing the kit was a bit complex. It is for the best that an experienced mechanic makes the repair using the correct torque settings on the housing bolts (to prevent the seal from deforming). I've got no oil leaks to deal with! Thanks for this quality seal. I'm very happy with it.
