Mine is a Dana 60 that has been transplanted; It came from an 88 Ford F350 and is now on my bronco. If you contact your local napa parts dealer, they will be able to assist you in obtaining the correct version for your 2008 vehicle.
Thicker oil in the differential allows Ford to get away with using gasket maker; you can use this gasket if you want, but you don't have to; you can just use gasket maker because that's what the book says.
Selected User Reviews For Lube Locker Dana 60 Differential Gasket
My 1985 motorhome's Dana 70 differential oil appeared to be brand new. As a result, I plan to do a series of short oil changes. This eliminates the hassle of changing the oil every 1,000 miles or less, as well as the time and money spent on purchasing, scraping, and wasting RTV. There are no leaks after thoroughly cleaning the mating surfaces, installing the gasket and cover, and properly torqueing the bolts. It's too early to tell how well it will hold up to multiple removals and installations, but so far I'm pleased.
So I went out and bought a new truck, as well as replacing all of the fluids. I purchased the American Standard Gear gaskets from Rock Auto because they were half the price, and I followed all of the manufacturer's instructions to the letter. Even after using a wire brush to clean the mating surface and replacing the diff cover, the leak persisted. I did the fluid change again two weeks later, using the LubeLocker gasket this time. It functions admirably. It's made of multiple layers of rubber to keep things sealed, and I'm confident it'll last a long time.
This thing, my God, is incredible. It's one of those things you didn't realize you needed until you tried it, and then you wonder how you ever got by without it. It's wonderful not to have to deal with messy RTV that leaks anyway, or cheap paper gaskets that are only good for one use. Time-consuming and prone to leakage. The LubeLocker is unquestionably more expensive than a standard differential gasket, but the ease-of-use makes it worthwhile. Its 100% worth the money due to its use and reusability.
You'll notice the heavy duty metal core precision wrapped with a rubber compound and an added bead of some kind of silicone for a nice tight even seal right away when you get it. It also perfectly fits the differential housing, where some seals may slightly overhang the lip and interfere with internal fluid dynamics. I've driven about 500 miles since the lube change and have yet to notice any leaks. I'd recommend these seals to anyone for any application!.
Make changing fluids a breeze. Scraping off old glue is no longer necessary! There's no need to wait for the glue to dry any longer. Remove the cover by simply pulling it back. Drain. Cover should be tightened again. Refill. With these, I could probably change the fluid in less than 10 minutes.
I was put off by the high price compared to single-use paper gaskets, but I knew we'd be removing the cover several times. We are on our third re-use of the Lube Locker gasket, which has performed exactly as advertised. seal, and it continues to perform admirably.
I was skeptical at first, but after reading the reviews, I realized there were many positive ones. Yes, it costs more than a tube of RTV, but it saves so much time and trouble. There is no need to cure or wait; simply install the torque and fill. The best part is that there are no leaks.
I'm not sure how I missed these before, but no more RTV? Please add me to the list! I received it today, installed it, and filled up the diff. No leaks! I'm blown away and overjoyed. I installed one on the rear axle (Dana 70) and one on the front axle (Dana 60) of my 1993 Dodge W350. It's the same cover on both of them. The lube locker guys did an excellent job with this product.
