Since there is no filter if it's regularly drained, does this mean that the separator needs to be changed?

In this case, we have a combination filter and water separator. I work with a customer who has Fire Trucks operating in a software system that also uses FF63009 as the fleetgard number. The FS1098 has what I think is a 10 micron filter, so you can drain it.

Are you referring to just the water separator or does it also contain a fuel filter cartridge that periodically needs to be changed?

There is only a water separator in this unit. It does not contain a cartridge.

It looks like an original Fleetguard filter, isn't it?
