When you replace your fuel pump, make sure you buy one of these more before you begin. You're going to smash your old pump up getting it off. The parts of your pump will probably be rusted by the time your pump dies if you live in a climate where snow falls frequently. A rusty fuel line caused the pump on my Silverado to leak fuel, so I had to replace the pump in Massachusetts, and getting that ring off was not enjoyable.
Owning an 01- doesn't mean you can't own it For 2005 Tahoes and Chevy trucks, if you see fuel leaking from your fuel tank, you might have to replace your fuel pump. Ensure you get the pump retaining ring, you'll need it, the tank top rots, so you need it. By doing so, you will save time and aggravation.
In the event that you are going to be dropping the gas tank for a fuel pump replacement, be sure to order this locking ring at the same time. Years of corrosion are sure to damage the OEM locking ring, so you will need it and be glad to have it.
My 2009 Avalanche would not work with this system. There was no way for us to drive it around and seat in it. I guess it was a little thick or something like that. My other vehicles are equipped with many of these. We tried to seat it with the help of his ASE Master Mechanic father, but was unable to move it. Our old one served us well. There was no problem with the cleaning and preparation of the surface. There was food on the surfaces that you could have eaten. There was just no way to do it.
My truck came with this in addition to a fuel pump. As part of the 201,000-mile maintenance, I also thought it a good idea to replace the metal ring, especially given the work they had to do to get there.
This is a decision I am glad I made. We had to beat a lot to remove the old retainer because it was rusted to a slab. The situation was a mess by the time I got there. Despite the pump being new, the new pump was placed on it.
This item matched my 2004 Avalanche Z71 perfectly because I had to replace my fuel pump, so I added new locking rings and O rings to it.
I did this instead of going to the local auto store because it was so much cheaper.
