Hello, I'm looking at the fuel pump assembly mounting ring in the Mitchell service manual for a 6 cyl Santa Fe and I'm not sure if this tool will work.

On a 2005 Lacrosse, I had to change the fuel pump. After watching several DIY videos demonstrating how to hack the retainer with a punch or screwdriver and a hammer, I decided that the risk was not worth it. If you're going to go through the trouble of removing the gas tank, make sure you get this tool. br> I despise wasting money on one-time-use tools, but the peace of mind that comes with knowing the job is done correctly pays for itself. The tool is well-made and effective. The main benefit is that it allows for uniform control during removal and installation, resulting in a smooth process.
The lock ring was removed with the help of a brass punch and a hammer. With a punch and a hammer, I was unable to fully secure the ring during installation. Due to the ring being punched out of orbit, it would not turn true in locking captures. I tried lightly hitting a point on the ring, then moving around the ring's circumference and hitting again. is not going to work Using this tool and a 1/2" drive breaker bar, it took quite a bit of force to turn the ring and hear it CLICK into tank locking captures, fully seating it. thick casting on both ends with strong locking tabs.
If you're replacing a fuel pump with a lok ring, this is a must. To remove/install, everyone advised using a screwdriver and a hammer. With that method, the new oring would not be compressed by the new lok ring. To snap it on, I used a 3-foot pull handle, this tool, and both of my hands while standing on the tank's side.
This tool was purchased to remove the retaining ring from my 2005 Ford Freestyle's fuel pump. This fuel pump retaining ring removal tool and 30 inch breaker bar 1/2 inch arrived quickly from amazon after spraying the really bad rusted fuel pump retainer ring ring once a day for three days with PB Blaster. I had enough room to use the 30 inch breaker bar and this ring removal tool after I removed the second row captain seats and console. I'm a 46-year-old woman with limited strength, and the rusted ring easily disintegrated. For removing that retaining ring, I recommend this tool over the more expensive Ford tools.
This tool was worth its weight in gold when I had to replace the old rusted out sending unit on my Colorado. Even with this tool, I still had to use a breaker bar, pipe, and a lot of elbow grease to get the job done, but it wouldn't have been possible without it. This tool is priceless, especially if you do jobs like mine on a regular basis.
This was used to replace the fuel pump ring on a 2007 Envoy. Without this tool, I don't think I would have been able to remove the ring. Even so, I had to break the ring loose with a two-foot breaker bar and a five-pound hammer (at the end of the breaker bar handle). Rust really binds everything together! This was a fantastic tool.
That was taken care of by this tool. Instead of having to use the adjustable tools, this fits perfectly, ensuring even pressure and the ability to get it right on the first try with no punching or slipping off the tank. If you're replacing the fuel pump on your S550 Mustang, you'll be glad you bought this tool.
It was an excellent solution. I spent a lot of time trying to remove a severely rusted lock ring with a hammer and a brass chisel before purchasing this. No luck. After that, I went out and purchased this device. With the help of an impact, it was quickly removed. Because the square in this tool to accept the impact appeared to be oversized, the impact deformed it. Having said that, I am very pleased with my purchase of this tool.
