I did not lower or lower the tank when I changed mine, but it was difficult to get the filler neck back in without damaging the new seal. Because of the odd angle it had to enter at, I put a little grease on the end of the filler neck to help.

I used it on a 1985 Mustang and have no idea what it's worth.
The solution is ideal. For my 1997 Mustang GT, this is the same as the original fuel tank collar. During the removal of the fuel tank to replace the fuel pump, this was installed. Excellent craftsmanship a reasonable price and prompt delivery

I wish I had changed it when I removed the fuel tank to replace a damaged fuel hose because it appears to be a high-quality part that fits perfectly and has no issues. When I finished with the hose, the tank began to leak profusely because the inner part of the grommet had split, which I couldn't see. Just for this part, the tank is brought out once more.
This is what I put in my 1989 Mustang GT. It wasn't easy, but you can do it without removing the gas tank. Simply remove the fuel door and the plastic cover inside, then raise the filler neck high enough to remove it. It appears to be a high-quality part, and it has successfully stopped the leak, so I am pleased!.
There is no longer any fuel leaking from the tank's filler. It wasn't too difficult to set up. To get the pipe out, I had to loosen my grip and shift the tank. If your tank is nearly empty, it'll be easier to do.
I was able to bend the sheet metal in the trunk floor sufficiently to remove and replace the filler tube. You'll have to abandon the tank if you don't.
It does the job and hasn't ripped even after several removals and installations of gas tanks. I suggest lubricating it so the filler neck slides in and out as smoothly as possible.
It fits snugly into the gas tank, and the filler tube fits snugly into it as well.
It's not compatible with older Fords. Upset.
This is a perfect match. When I took the gas tank out to service the fuel pump, it fell apart.
