My car had two CEL codes, and this gas cap fixed one of them. Obviously, the car has a different issue that I'll have to deal with, but for those who buy this gas cap and complain that it doesn't clear the check engine light - FYI. THIS MEANS THERE'S A NEW PROBLEM WITH YOUR CAR!
CONS: I'm not sure if this is an OEM Honda gas cap because it lacks the Honda emblem that my original gas cap had, but it seems to be working fine so far. There's also this: It doesn't come with an attachment pin, so you'll need to remove it from your old cap before you can secure the new one. The task is simple, but it necessitates the use of pliers and some effort. br>With that said, 4 stars. If anything changes, I'll let you know.
The check engine light came on after I received a flashing "Check Fuel Cap" alert. After about 100 miles of driving, both alerts went away after I installed this new cap. It was a bit pricey, but it resolved the issue.
I bought this product and installed it without any problems; it was sold as-is and fixed the error message "check fuel cap. " I installed this part in March 2018, and the same message has appeared again in June 2018 (4,000 miles later). I've double-checked the cap and refilled the tank with new gas, but the message persists. Unfortunately, because I did not keep track of the official installation date and mileage, Honda will not cover the part under its standard 12-month warranty. In essence, I've had much better luck with the cheaper parts from big-box auto parts stores, and I don't recommend purchasing this part.
After a couple of re-starts, our check engine light came on, so we decided to buy. Visits to refuel It's not difficult to set up, but some guidance would be helpful. If you want to use this feature, you'll need to insert a plastic clip/rivet into a small hole in the retention cable. I removed and reinstalled with a pair of vise grip pliers, but they could be easily damaged if not handled carefully.
Initially, I attempted to replace the O ring, but it failed after six months. We replaced the entire cap and have had no further problems; however, we agree that the pin for attaching to the car should be included. I improvised with a nut and bolt that I had on hand.
The grommet/pin that connects the line to the intended hole next to the cap is missing, which is a major flaw. I was able to remove my old pin without difficulty, but I was unable to use it to secure the new cap because the four pins were splayed. My Odyssey is a 2006, and I was able to fix the line by pinning it to the inside hole on the fuel cover door with an existing pin. How much more would Honda have to charge to include a replacement gromment/pin? br>However, after a few days of driving, the check fuel cap light on the dash went out.
I ordered the gas cap before I had a chance to look at the old one on the vehicle, and it was definitely OEM, in a Honda package. The check engine light turned off after I cleaned up the old gasket on the gas cap and twisted it back on. If I ever need another one, I will definitely purchase from this site. Thanks.
My Honda, which was 13 years old at the time, was constantly displaying the message "check gas cap. " Even though I stopped topping off my gas, it continued to happen. After doing some research online, I decided to replace the gas cap, and it worked perfectly! I'm grateful because it saved me a trip to the dealership as well as money.
