A simple piece of low-cost plastic. It was used on a 2010 Forester. Does exactly what it says. If you purchase the gas cap, you should also purchase this item. This is something that is required but isn't provided.
Do not purchase aftermarket Subaru fuel caps. The hard way, as it turned out. I bought a cheap one, and within 100 miles, it activated an evap code. I purchased this genuine Subaru cap, and after 2000 miles, there have been no problems or codes.
