A top port is one of three on the device. A large inlet and outlet threading port for oil intake and output. There is a third smaller one that threads into where the temp sensor is located.

I have installed this on my 2012 Chrysler Town and Country with the 62TE transmission. The frame of the car wasn't a great place to install, so I made my own bracket to move it. noted, it appears as if the fittings for the in/out ports may be made out of cheap PVC/plastic. The brass barbed compressor fittings were replaced by those made of brass.

What a great idea! Has Ford changed their tune and now they recommend that you do not change the filter in your metric transmission? I have bought my 7 now. Since 2001, I have paid twice to have the damn thing changed, and I even replaced the trans at 148k with a new one - because it broke and I was told it was due to What would happen on a hot day) with a dirty air Considering that I don't want to drop a pan on you, if the dealer doesn't do it anymore (and Ford states that it shouldn't be necessary), why then did they recommend it in the first place? He made his way to the hotel When the cooler arrives next week, I'm looking forward to installing it. Knowing what the temperature is will be nice, as well as knowing that the fluid inside my transmission is now clean. The temperature range needs to be a little lower, as I am unable to get it to register 140 degrees when driving around town while empty. At 120 degrees F I think it would be a good temperature to begin with.

I have never seen a temperature gauge like this one before. The idea of a replaceable filter appeals to me. You can put rubber transmission lines into the system because they are very easy to install. It looks way more complicated to find a suitable location to mount the gauge, run the cabling, and mount the gauge than the filter block installation.

An example of the temperature gauge. If the filtering works as described, it should be effective. When using an infrared thermometer, the temperature of the sending unit is 186* and the temperature gauge reads 240* (way too high). My contact with the manufacturer has been made. I was not aware the dial's face is white, which you can see in the picture, but I missed that fact. I made a mistake and I'm sorry. The dial was black faced and I was pissed off (at myself).

Oil line fittings were made of plastic, not brass, and the filter was a cheap PF 253, not the Derale. Originally, the gauge was from a cheap Derale, which started What you are receiving is not what is shown on the screen.
