The installation was easy, and my Jeep has a much better giddyup than it did with Because the bolt holes on the box frame didn't line up, the frame had to be bent in a few places. The mounting plate would not fit over the frame with out some bending of the other parts. Even if I hadn't snapped off the third bolt, those other points would have had to be bent in order to fit over the mounting plate. I am pleased with the progress so far, but if things change, I will let you know. Update
It has been five months since I installed the air intake and I am still happy with it. It was only the radiant heat in the engine compartment that was a concern for me. Due to the heat generated by this aluminum tube system, there was no significant difference between it and the stock air box when the Air intake temperature sensor was used. Wrapping the aluminum tubbing with fiberglass exhaust wrap was an easy task for me. In the past three months I have seen a boost in MPG and engine temperatures on hot days since I made that quick modification. I recommend that if you buy this intake to insulate the air tube you should also purchase some fiberglass exhaust wrap.
You'll have to be a little mechanically inclined to pull it off. I like this a lot. The OME should be removed and the mount area cleaned up. Using a metal protectant spray and phosphor, paint, and phosphite can make a huge difference. The mount holes should be aligned as closely as possible with the existing mount holes. You now need to bend and hammer the air box to adapt it to the best possible way. It is just a matter of going back and forth until you reach agreement. The mount bolts can be used to secure the device. In front of the metal air box, there is a mesh radius. You can expect fit to be a little bit off right away if you follow the instructions. It is unknown to me whether my mileage is better than others. I am going to modify the straight six 4L for better intake since it runs hot so I may try pushing more air through it. This should be better in terms of mpg however, I'll need to gain some driving experience.
This intake is very easy to install, it doesn't have options for old vacuum lines but if you don't know how to work around that, you shouldn't install it! If you have no idea how to do it, hire a professional. On my renix-era jeep, I felt good about the gains, and it can hold its own against the K&N I have done intakes for both my ns and the custom intakes I.
It is a good quality heat shield and I am satisfied with The throttle body and headers are 62mm and banks exhausts are 26mm. You can tune your bank accounts with this program. A lot of the holes did not line up perfectly. I had to manipulate it a little bit.
The installation of my 2000 Cherokee was very easy. Power gain was obtained by modifying the throttle body and exhaust system in conjunction with an overall power upgrade.
My son drives about 40 miles round trip to work each way so I bought this for him. The fit of the garment required some minor adjustments. As far as economy is concerned, he claims to get an additional 1/2 mile per gallon.
The bad news It is difficult to install rings well between a housing and a filter. Despite clamps' claims, they do not hold well. A little tweaking was needed to make the housing A lot of heat is generated from the compartment, so I wrapped the intake pipe with a rubber gasket. The increase in power is about 4 horsepower, which sounds good.
I can notice some improvements in throttle response, because of the easy installation and the high quality of the product.
