Questions & Answers

How long do you let the ties dry before cutting them off? Is it better to let the air dry or to run the engine with exhaust on it to dry?

Leaving the ties on permanently is the best option. Place a steel zip around both the top and bottom ends of the wrap to secure it, then soak the wrap, wrap the pipe, and zip around the raw ends of the wrap. As they are metal, you won't have to worry about them breaking or melting. Zip ties should be trimmed in the same way as zip ties. If you want, you can let the wrap air dry, or you can run the motor and it will dry The unit will smoke a lot if you do this, but that is to be expected.

Which temperature do the ties have a rating for?

Although they don't specify the melting temperature, the toys that come with it are made of stainless steel, and that will melt at a temperature of like 3000 degrees for a long time

It can be used on rubber intake hoses, but not hard rubber ones?

There isn't much reason not to use it because it softens up pretty well when wet and as long as you can wrap it tight enough to tie a knot around it, you should be fine.

Which came first, the 1400s or the 1800s?

Despite being made of cloth, this hose wrap can withstand direct and radiant heat up to 1400 F

I found it quite useful for my purposes. UPDATED
On my SXS, I wrapped the exhaust pipe at the manifold exit We followed the instructions to the letter. My first ride resulted in my wrap being at least half burned through and tattered into the seat. As there was more than enough wrap to cover the entire area, I used the remaining roll for another covering. My wrap has more or less burned through in the wake of this past weekend's ride (my first since the second attempt). In every place where the wrap made direct contact with the pipe, it completely burned. A short time later, this burned through and is once again draped over the pipe. This product is not heat-resistant enough to be used as a tailpipe, manifold pipe, etc. Please do not wrap your hair in this!.

Here are some tips for DIY pipe wrapping! This is a very nice product, I really like it
5/5

I suggest plunging THEM in water for at least one hour and then wrapping them. *Also, 2. You need to wear gloves! During a vise mount, the pipes should be removed first, and the pipes should be vise mounted. They work well with the clamps it comes with, but I would take a drift and punch them so that they hold Four paragraphs. Put the pipes in CAREFULLY after they have been wrapped, and let it warm up thoroughly. Five points. In short, reword Using a spray bottle, wet down the pipes and then warm them You can now re-enter the data Once they are boiled, they harden like a cast. If you heat them, they will harden like a cast. Take your time and go over the wraps twice.

I am pleased with the price and the quality of the product

It performs Don't think you will need as many supplies as you think you will. For the front half of the Subaru STi downpipe, I used 50 feet of VHT clear. I'm going to add a thin coat of VHT to keep any fluid from getting inside. As far as the included steel ties go, I prefer to use hose clamps of the worm type, as they are far more reliable.

That worked like a charm
5/5

To wrap a 4 cylinder motorcycle exhaust from its primaries back to the exhaust muffler, nearly 75 feet were required. I'm surprised at how well this stuff works! After a 20 minute aggressive session, the wrap was cool enough to touch. The area away from the wrap was so hot that I got a little burned. It is very irritating to the skin, so wear gloves when installing. In the absence of a special clamp tool, you can use a pair of needle nose pliers and pry it as tight as you can. Bend the leftover piece back over the clamp after cutting the excess in a safe manner. While steel clamps are annoying without the tool, they will look better once they have been cut into the correct shape. In my opinion, the most surprising thing about this exhaust is that it sounds a little quieter and deeper than the stock exhaust.

I find this to be very useful
5/5

The headers I install are always enhanced by it. I recommend it. In addition, it's a third of the cost of what you will find at AutoZone and Compared to other apps, I think this is a better quality app. The cost of a roll of this stuff at O'Reilly's is upwards of $60. simple fiberglass wrap, and I would be surprised if titanium was actually present in the material. I guess it just represents the color, all that really matters is the material. There are none Here's the thing In spite of the smaller items, they all work well. As a result, it keeps the engine bay cooler and allows for better intake temperatures for the engine, resulting in a better running engine. Be prepared to get itchy though, since it does have fiberglass inside. There is no need to dip it in water, I wear gloves. It's up to you whether you want to dip it in water. if you dip it in water be careful to not snag it because if it starts unraveling it will continue to unravel just like a poor sweater.

The heat is not on
5/5

There's nothing I love more than The heat is prevented from going out the pipes and from burning up the wiring. Yes, it is a little messy, but don't worry if you wear gloves, soak it in If you wrap from the collector to the heads, start at the collector. By doing so, the wraps give the wind a place to blow against instead of against the overlapping As well as holding the piece together, stainless steel zip strips are an excellent choice. There is a need for a needle nose.

There's nothing to complain about here
5/5

1 of 2 Yamaha XS650 pipes wrapped Pipes are 5 inches in diameter, running about 18 inches long from the foot controls to where the header pipes end). My pipes came out exactly as I wanted them, and I had enough in two rolls of 1" tubing to cover both ends (though one roll of tubing was two feet longer than the other, so keep that in mind). There are better options available. The steel ties that come with the bike are fine, though they smoked a bit the first couple of rides (which was not too bad). Although I have only been wearing them this summer, they still look good and no signs of wear have appeared. No need to wet this stuff before install (others require that, instructions with this stuff didn't, I think it's a matter of material), but I did and it's fine (I missed the "no need to water" line in the instructions the first time).

The results weren't that good
4/5

The program does what it is supposed to do. All in all, it's OK. In general, I prefer to use the name brand stuff, but I had a small project for which I could use this, so I bought it to save some money. In spite of the fact that it bundled up trying to do even the slightest bend when wet, and with a helper. My usual working method when using thermal wrap is to work alone. It was only with my teenage son's assistance that I was able to make a presentable installation. Unless the exhaust system is large and crude, this may not be an issue. I'd like it for a big install, but for small stuff it's Good morning, everybody. There are cinch straps that work well with gloves included as well. This is what I have to say.
