Questions & Answers

Would you recommend applying an extra high-temperature coating to this wrap to make it more wear-resistant?

I could not wrap my head around the wrap. My intention was to shield my starter from heat, but I did not get any benefit from it. It is not clear whether it could be coated, but if it could be coated, that might help reduce the unraveling.

Does it have the ability to be painted to help prevent flaking, absorption of moisture/water and fading of the tape's colors?

Hot weather is common in this area. There is no paint that will stick to the fabric. Once the engine has heated up, the moisture will evaporate

What are the chances of it being used as an electrical insulator?

Not at all, I'd say. The shield prevents things from getting too hot by protecting them from extreme heat. Electrical items should not be insulated with this material.

There is just enough difference to be noticed
5/5

This looks just different enough to make it noticeable, and it works extremely There was something off about the gold look When I purchased it online, it was a little off-putting, but when I got it in the mail, it was perfect! As long as you don't rush, it can be installed in no time. You have been given very clear instructions that make it very simple to install. Take your time and tighten it up around your exhaust. In fact, the main reason you buy this stuff is for its heat protection, and it certainly provides that. It is not only aesthetically pleasing, but I feel confident riding it in my black converse chucks, even when my foot is within 2" of the pipe. I've received many compliments on how it looks, but I really like how it works too. It is HIGHLY recommended that you purchase a.

It keeps its luster for a very long time

The 2JZ headers I have on my custom T2 series of computers have been working exceptionally well for how many years I've had them. The heat is drastically lowered.

Wrap the hot dog in a cloth
5/5

The replacement down pipes from the v-shaped roof are wrapped On my motherboard, I have 8 manifolds. Considering how close the pipes are to the oil pan and that the original pipes were insulated, I figured it was a good idea to do this. It worked well and I was able to adjust the wrap some while it was in place with stainless hose clamps. The system seems to be running smoothly so far. Please also consider When the product is used for the first time, a warning/note is valid about smoking. I like it that the package says that the wrap will smoke for a while, they are not joking! Although it lasted a short time before burning off I spent 10 minutes on the phone.

There was a fire in the house! Can you tell me what the warranty is on this product? On my 383 I was wrapping the headers and the header wrap literally caught fire! Although I did keep the fire extinguisher, it did melt a lot of my wiring, and I'm wondering what this company will do for a warranty

Apparently the heater is rated at 1200 degrees continuous heat. There are photos and videos showing that it was definitely the rap that hit the spot.

This sort of stuff doesn't appeal to me
3/5

There is a lot of shine and a lot of slipperiness in this product. This sort of stuff doesn't appeal to me. The finish on this product is very shiny and slippery. Wrapping a v6 header is extremely difficult, and it is hard to keep a tight seal. You cannot pull this product against itself very easily (it slips very easily). In the past, I have used products that were not shiny and could get tighter wraps with them. I hope that once silicone has been sprayed on and the stuff has been driven on, this stuff will hold up.

It works as it should

Fraying ends are prone to occur. This tool is very useful, but the ends fray very easily. Upon fraying, you end up with fiberglass strings hanging from your exhaust. Not good. You must conceal the ends so they cannot unravel after you secure it with stainless tie wire. I folded the ends underneath before I secured it with stainless tie wire.

This helps to reduce the amount of heat
4/5

According to the description, this item was exactly what was To prevent the exhaust header from overheating my starter when it is close to it, I used this to wrap my exhaust header. Although the starter appears to have lessened the heat somewhat, there is still too much heat in it. Not as much as I would have liked to cut the heat, but it does help.

I have used this stuff before and it works! The exhaust wrap came with good instructions and I was able to wrap the exhaust pipe from the engine to the muffler on the 1914 Model T Ford Touring nicely
5/5

While the auto has been restored and running for some time now, the exhaust pipe heat has been radiating through the floorboards ( on a Model T, there are real floor boards! providing an enjoyable hot experience.

This exhaust wrap works great, and I found it helpful to apply it wet ( I put the whole roll in a bucket of water) and it helps to have someone else in your area to keep it straight while you apply it. Furthermore, you may want to remove the item before wrapping it, in order to isolate it from the rest of the item. easier to handle the exhaust pipe/system when there is some space around it rather than trying to install the wrap in a confined area. My experience with the stainless steel zip ties being recommended by others was that they work, just practice with a couple before you go live.
