Questions & Answers

Do you know where it is physically located on the vehicle? Before ordering, I need to see. My body has been lying on frozen ground for a while looking for answers. ?

I have it mounted on a bracket and above the reservoir between bed and cab on my 2000 Silverado. There is no easy way to get to this place. You may be able to see the tank if you look down in this gap.

You can remove the fuel tank from most trucks by looking between the bed and the cab on the driver's side. If you do some cursing, you can remove it without dropping

My 2003 Silverado requires an evap canister. What evap canister do I need?

In 2003 I had the same car as this one. I found it between the bed and the cab as well as below the bed. Sometimes it's slightly under the bed as well. In case you need to check, you can do so there.

What method does the hose employ to release itself?

You have to press very hard on two clips to make it work. The screw driver I used was a thin flat screw driver. Initially, I let go of one clip which held the hose and then let go of the other one which let the hose loose.

You can pretty much figure it out by yourself A 2004 GMC Yukon XL that I had two error codes on has been fixed with this part
5/5

These two error codes were both related to fuel venting, as they were both P0440 and P0446 respectively. believe it's important to note that according to Amazon, this part won't fit my vehicle (but In addition to this part, there is also an upgraded one available, however I figured if the original one lasted 120,000 miles, I would go with that one. As far as I can recall, this part was behind the rear wheel of the driver's side, near the fuel tank. Then, simply get this part under the vehicle and take a look for a similar part. You should be able to figure it out There is a connector to unplug from the fuel tank (which was not difficult on my vehicle), and then you need to disconnect the vent line. IT WAS THAT part that was difficult After struggling with this drainage hose for 30 minutes, I finally managed to isolate it. In the end, I had to use two pairs of pliers to force it apart. After that, I put in the new part just as I removed the old. In this case, you should know how to reset the check engine light using a scanner, or just wait for it to go away on its own after a few drive cycles after replacing this part. The replacement is very simple It probably took me about 45 minutes to complete. Below are a couple of Make sure you have safety glasses on. The junk under your vehicle might fall into your eyes*Please wear gloves to protect your hands (not a necessity, but I always feel more relaxed pulling on things if my hands are covered**If you're weary of anything related to the gas tank, here's a tip. It is nothing to be concerned about. There is no fuel in the vent line. It is only a vent. No fuel will be released in that direction. It is possible for you to do this, if I can. I spent more time than it normally should have because of that damn fuel vent line (it went on the new part very easily, though).
*I ended up lifting the rear wheels of my Yukon XL by about 3 inches, which made getting under to wheels much easier. While it might have been possible to lift the box without lifting it, I found it easier to work underneath it while Using a Jack to lift your vehicle is not recommended. A few of my yellow parking pads for the camper were used, but you can use 2x6's or 2x8's, jack stands, or wheel ramps if you prefer. Again, you can lift it up a few inches to make it easier to work there, but again, it makes it easier to work down there if it is lifted. You can reach out to me if you have any questions and I will do my best to assist you!.

Remove your bed only if you have to! The Silverado was manufactured in 2003
5/5

My truck has been cleared of the p0449 error code. There was a crack in the old part. It is likely that you will see a lot of people removing the bed or hoisting off one side of it if you search for how to install This is not the way to do it. Taking the bracket off is quite simple if you just remove the bolts. I had the old one out within ten minutes, and the new one installed in just as fast. In the event of a break in the plastic hose (I didn't), just replace with rubber.

I like how it fits and works
5/5

I have driven it for several thousand miles and several months and it seems to be holding up well*. These "Evaporative Emission Control System Leak Detected" codes (P0455, P0422, etc. ) will appear, and the 'cheap guy' sequence will be to reinstall the evaporative emissions control system. Make sure your gas cap is tight and secure To clear the code, press ESC. In the event the code returns, replace the gas cap if it is older than two years, and then clear it. It may come back if you check two valves (the purge valve and The vent valve), especially if they are original and old, wears out after a dozen times of opening/closing. Vent valve is under the charcoal canister and near the gas tank. Purge valve is over the top of the engine. There were two valves in my car that were cheap enough to just replace versus trying to test them first. Additionally, I found a broken (completely closed) vent on the charcoal canister, leaving it exposed to air, which was cheaper to fix. In order to avoid having to hire a mechanic and having to pay for 'smoke testing', do the following Having a mechanic take a look at it first is recommended to ensure it has the correct gas cap, valve and fluid levels.
