There are a few things I would like to mention differently from other reviews on this product. Unlike other customers who reported problems with sound when they installed their pump, mine ran perfectly quietly. Yet it still wobbled on the shaft like a kid who was going for the first time without a training wheel! Yes, it was a bad day! The only thing I would be able to do is chew up fan belts if I left it as it Thanks to Amazon, the situation was saved. In my case, I called them and explained the problem, and they sent a new pump to me immediately without having to ship the wobbler back to them first. I changed the pump for a second time, and this one has been reliable. As to loudness, it makes a lot of noise initially, but it seems to quiet down after a few minutes or so. Having checked around, it seems like Cardone is the only vendor to offer this pump, regardless of where it is purchased. In that sense, it becomes more of a question of price, and Amazon has the lowest price, by far. Therefore, if you need this pump then you will have to suffer the hazards that may crop up along the Although Amazon was great, it left the experience with a little less of a sting than it normally would have (which is why I gave it three I got frustrated, spent money, and ended up with a lot of time spent on the procedure. When I ordered from Amazon, I had trouble - An experience replete with no charge.
I failed to realize that three bolts on the hub were still tight on the pulley when it fell from the shaft for the first time. As I had already rebuilt my engine, I was beyond the return date. I welded it on again, so it wobbles now. Squeals are horrible, but the squeal is even worse! There is barely a sound over the squeal of the engine. We will get rid of it and purchase a dummy pulley to keep this out of the way.
The smog pump I bought fixed my side of the road breakdown issue, due to the fact that it was 29 years old and had become obsolete through the dealer for an identical fitment. Despite the fact that my 1988 Ford van is exempt from any state imposed smog control requirements, I cannot operate the vehicle without replacing this [mine froze up]. I changed in about an hour on my way to work, on a van.
Only managed to travel 2000 miles is no good. There is a 10000 mile warranty on this vehicle.
The ford bronco I installed this on had a 1994 model. In this truck that barely gets driven, it started easily and was quiet when it was hot. A little less than a thousand miles later, it locks up solid in a home depot parking lot that I have to replace it in the middle of a snowstorm. Due to the fact that I barely drive it, it does not qualify for return. Keep this as far from your mind as possible.
Sadly, no core refund for me this time. I wish I had purchased from AutoZone next time. I hate to throw out an old pump that can be easily.
Reviewers had criticized the product, so I was unsure about what kind of part I would The 1993 Ford F-150 5 was so pleased to get this for it. It does not make any kind of sounds or squeaks. My car would squeal occasionally when I put it on at first, but after about 20 minutes of highway driving that noise eventually disappeared. A great price for a great part.
