Questions & Answers
Yes, this aftermarket Catalytic Converter from AutoShack is compatible with Second Generation Prius models manufactured between 2004 and 2009. If you have a mechanical aptitude, you'll find installing 5 to be quite simple. In most cases, there ought to be at least 1 inch of pipe left at the cut point of the resonator, but if not, it can be mounted and driven to a shop to be welded. If you plan to go under a vehicle, make sure you use safety measures. It is crucial that the cut pipe is straightened, filed and cleaned before connecting, as the fit is tight and won't go together if it is jagged or unround.

It was perfect to replace it with this. Getting it welded will cost you $60. The people who are responsible for this must be caught.
It is not a good idea to use this method for a faulty There is nothing more to it than a straight tube with some catalyst on top. I installed it in my 2004 Prius with no issues. Although it is very quiet and it fits very well, the engine set a low catalyst voltage after the 4th start. In case there was a change in the coils thrown, I installed a new 02 sensor just in case. In any case, I'm glad it was not a total waste of money since it got me back on the road until I can purchase a real converter as my cat was stolen.
It is possible to slip this over the pipe and latch it down as long as you have a couple inches of pipe forward of the muffler. Everything a user needs, other than a downstream O2 sensor, is included in the kit. (along with a 14mm socket with a long extension and a 13mm box wrench, the only tools you need, except a crescent wrench for the oxygen sensor).
I love this product, and it looks like it is made of very high quality materials. I fixed my p0420 fault on my prius, but make sure your mechanic ties the two bolts all the way tightly. I paid 150 for the installation at the muffler shop.
It works well, and the value is excellent.
I had a minor issue with the product, but installation was straightforward and customer service handled it quickly. It only took three days because I took three days to reply, and they responded in less than two days. Overall, I am satisfied with the end result.
Although it is affordable, it is noticeably louder than the original OEM stock, but not obnoxious. It can be easily mounted as long as there is an inch of pipe left on the cut pipe to slide the aftermarket cat onto, then it can It'll need to be welded on that end if you don't have enough pipe left, as I did on one Prius (it shouldn't be a problem if you hire a shop to do the work). Several of these are good products that I have bought.
It was a good fit, and the service engine light was turned off. This was a great purchase, great product and great price. I installed it in my second generation.
