My 1998 Honda Accord LX failed emissions testing in the Denver area after I purchased it. I bought this catalytic converter and, while it fit perfectly and came with all the necessary gaskets and hardware, it took a little practice to get the old cat off. Tin snips were used to make a small modification to the old heat shield. I drove the car for several drive cycles after the new cat was installed to clear the pre-existing pre-existing pre-existing pre-existing pre-existing pre-existing pre-existing pre- OBD2 diagnostic code P0420 already exists. I passed the emissions retest, and this cat was a great deal and works great.
The check engine light came on, and I received the 420 code, so I purchased this. The codes haven't appeared since I replaced the defective unit with this one. Although the o2 sensor was not defective, I replaced it because the bolts on the original catalyst on the 2003 Honda accord were in poor condition. Bolt extractors were used to quickly remove the front three. As the rears deteriorated, there were no nuts visible on the bolts, so I used a grinder to remove them. A front plate gasket and a rear o ring gasket were included in the new unit. I did use gasket material that I had to purchase in addition to it. It also included the six mounting bolts and nuts. The purchase has exceeded my expectations. A smog test was also passed by the new vehicle.
Perfect fit for a 1999 Honda Accord; however, unless you have a good set of ramps and/or jackstands, a tall floor jack, and a cutting wheel grinder, you should get a mechanic with all the necessary tools to replace this for you. I tried Irwin bolt extractors, but they didn't have enough bite or torque, so Mr. Side Grinder took care of the bolts quickly. The new one went in without a hitch once the old one was removed. Hunny is pleased with himself, and I am pleased with myself.
If you have the right tools, this catalytic converter is simple to install. I was able to remove my old catalytic converter and install this one in about 2 hours, despite the fact that the bolts on my old catalytic converter were rusted out and it took us a long time to remove it. I had to cut out the catalytic converter in order to get better access to the bolts. It was very simple to install the new catalytic converter, which required only 6 volts total. Before you begin, double-check that you have all of the necessary tools. I also wish I had purchased the heat shield for the catalytic converter, as it makes a significant difference.
Is in perfect working order on my "Accord 2002, 4 cyl. " The only drawback is that EX now has more power; however, I was unable to use the original shield. The metal body and welds appear to be strong, and it came with all of the parts shown in the picture, so I didn't have to buy any gaskets or bolts, which means no more horrible rattle and lower pollution emissions.
A fantastic purchase! The order arrived on time, and the product included all of the necessary installation hardware (bolts and gasket) as shown in the photos. Good value for money. It's a perfect fit for the car. It does not include a heat shield, as did the original Honda parts, and the OEM heat shield cannot be used on it due to its size. There's no need to be concerned. Installing it was a breeze. To go with it, I purchased a new O2 sensor. There is no longer a check engine light or a rattle sound coming from the vehicle. The post-cat O2 sensor reading is more stable and does not follow or oscillate like the pre-cat reading. It is determined by the cat's O2 sensor reading. I wish I had purchased it sooner. br>br> A fantastic purchase!.
This is a great deal for the money, and it was also in prime condition; it comes with gaskets, nuts, and bolts, but the shield will not fit unless you modify it like I did. My flanges were already rusted when I got it, so I had to paint them.
My car's code P0420 for the catalytic converter was not corrected - Honda Accord LX 2 (2002 model year) Sedan with 3 liters of fuel capacity - Despite the fact that both Oxygen Sensors have been replaced. I'll try to contact the seller, and if the issue is resolved, I'll update my review. I DO NOT RECOMMEND THIS PRODUCT UNTIL THAT TIME COMES.
