This is one of the most common parts to fail in Chevys from that time period, and it will cause the check engine light to illuminate on the dash. When this part fails, you will typically notice a temporary increase in engine power as the timing advances, then the engine will start running rough and lose power after a short period of time. br>br>These parts are reasonably priced from this seller, simple to install (you can watch a quick YouTube video if you need to), require only basic tools, and could be a good thing to try before paying an expensive mechanic. This job will save you hundreds of dollars if you do it yourself. br>br>I took the car to a local auto store and had the codes scanned for free, after which I purchased the part for a much lower price here. br>br>It took me 10 minutes to get the part out of the box and into the car. The fit is unique to the intake and exhaust cams, so they can't be installed backwards, and they're also color-coded.
The engine is a 5 liter Ecotec. Simply remove the engine cover, unplug the old sensors (the OEM sensor housing had crumbled into dust! ), remove the old sensors with a 10mm socket after cleaning the area thoroughly, and install the new ones. Replace these sensors to save a bundle of cash and your sanity!.
My GMC Terrain began stalling from a complete stop, with P010 and P011 codes flashing on the dashboard. A bad intake Variable Valve Timing solenoid was the source of the problem. They were priced at $40-$50 in local auto parts stores. On Amazon, I was able to get both the intake and exhaust solenoid kits for $26. In 30 minutes, I replaced both solenoids after watching a YouTube video. There will no longer be any stalling, dying, or check engine lights!.
I just put them in, they went in easily, but I'm pretty good at working on cars. I bought this because of the price and the fact that it came with both the intake and exhaust. br>So time will tell how well this product performs for me.
