Questions & Answers
Thank you very much for your query. This lock plate is made to fit the 'factory flat tappet' bolt circle found on Chevrolet Small and Big Block camshafts. The attachment bolts on these camshafts are spaced further apart than on 'factory roller' style camshafts with a factory retainer plate. Which camshaft part number are you using in your engine? If your camshaft's part number starts with an 11-digit number, you're using one of ours. or a 12- This will work if you use a prefix. If you have a COMP Cams camshaft with a part number that starts with 08- or 09-, you should replace it. or 01- If that's the case, then this isn't going to work for you. Please do not hesitate to contact us directly at 901- 795- 2400; This subject can get very specific, and we'll be happy to work with you to make sure you get the right information.
As long as you have the original designed timing chain and gears on gas, everything should be fine. I've personally used several of these on early model 350s.
Yes, it'll work. If your cam gear has three mounting holes and one hole for the Cam pin, you're good to go.
Unless the manufacturer specifies otherwise, you should use a cam lock on any camshaft.

Your data indicated that it would be a good fit for my needs. I have 5. With a roller camshaft, it's a 7 GM Vortec engine. This item does not fit this application, and you have no information to support this, and I've noticed that I'm only allowed to return it for 5 days. Tim.
It was utilized in the construction of a 350 Chevy engine.
When building an engine, it's important to keep the timing tight even at high rpms.
