We ordered two sets because the first set didn't come with washers to keep the window in place on the hinge. It was bouncing, and the old washers had corroded and disintegrated. When we contacted the company, they advised us to buy it on Amazon, which we did. We had to make our own "washer" out of the lid of a cat litter container for the second set, which arrived exactly the same as the first. It had been exposed to the elements in both the cold and the heat and had not cracked, so I'm hoping it will withstand the elements. The product was nice, but the lack of washers and inability to buy just new washers was frustrating.
My original hinges rusted out for some reason, and the back window was hanging on one side, so I ordered this part after my husband looked it up. I received the hinges much sooner than expected, and all of the necessary parts were included in the box! My husband claimed that it was simple to replace and that it took him no time at all. I'm glad he took the risk of ordering these because I'm sure the dealer would have charged at least 5x the cost of the parts if he hadn't.
We ordered these to replace hinges on a friend's car that had unexpectedly broken in half, resulting in the window being duct taped to keep it in place. We had to take the vehicle to a glass shop to have it installed because the back hatch had a problem and would not open for access or installation. The cost of having them professionally installed was $65. Time limit: 30 minutes Our friend received a very nice "surprise" Christmas present, and the new ones we ordered here worked perfectly! Thank you very much!.
When compared to OEM prices, this is a perfect replacement part. In addition, the quality appears to be comparable to that of OEM. However, because the OEM nut's attached washer was much larger in diameter (see first image), I reused the nut from the OEM part. I also painted the inside of the cast part, as it was not well painted by the OEM, which is why the part corrodes and fails. It was very simple to set up. After six months of ownership, there have been no issues.
I've sent a message to the seller, and I'm hoping for a quick resolution. All of the components were delivered in good condition. The right side hinge went in without a hitch, but I can't say the same for the left side, where the Torx screw that secures the window to the hinge has stripped, leaving the window partially open. The threads/pattern on the inside of the hinge appear to be made of cheap aluminum. My window no longer seats properly, and the Torx screw spins and spins without tightening the window. I'm hoping for a replacement and to be able to change my review/rating.
I ordered the hinges and they arrived two days later. We just finished installing them (mostly my husband), which took about an hour and a half. The most difficult part was removing and replacing the support struts. It was well worth it to install it ourselves because we probably saved $300 or more. The new hinges are just as good as, if not better than, the originals, and they fit perfectly. The hinges are covered by a lifetime warranty, so you can't go wrong, and we're glad we went ahead and did it.
Each OEM hinge costs about $90. It's a fantastic deal to get a set of aftermarket hinges for about a third of the price. They're identical to the original hinges in terms of fit and finish. Because the nuts that come with them are of poor quality, I used the originals from my vehicle, which were still in good condition. Aside from that, the money was well spent. It was installed on a 2009 Ford Escape.
(2) Bolt BROKE with 1/4" rachet! (1) Does NOT sit flat on lift glass! NOT SUGGESTED! (1) The brackets do not fit flush against the lift glass. (2) A 1/4" stubby ratchet **BROKED** the bolt on the bracket that holds it to the body! br>br>On the bright side, it appears to be holding the glass in place (at least for the time being, until OEM parts can be obtained).
