I ordered the 2x4 pair and was pleasantly surprised to receive it a day ahead of schedule. I installed them the same day, and so far they appear to be working properly. I have read plenty of reviews stating that these don't last, as well as many that have had no problems, and the ride seems to be back to normal compared to my old worn out hubs. I have read plenty of reviews stating that these don't last, as well as many that have had no problems. So only time will tell how well they hold up for me, and I'll report back in a month or two. 1 star for packaging because the boxes containing the actual hubs appeared to be beat up and torn, with minimal packaging to secure the hubs. br>br>Update 4/23/19br>Well, I've had these hubs on for nearly six months now, so now is as good a time as any for an update. So far, the hubs haven't broken or seized on me. However, while rolling at low speeds, I notice a slight squeak on every other rotation of the wheels, so take that as you will. Because it's the only time I hear it, it doesn't bother me too much. In any case, I'm still pleased with my purchase and would consider doing so again if the need for my vehicle arises.
I've previously purchased a number of Detroit Axle brake parts as well as a front end rebuild kit. The front end rebuild kit did not last as long as I had hoped (ball joints became slightly loose after 18 months of hard daily driving), but the brakes have never failed me and are of excellent quality. These, on the other hand, were damaged upon arrival. Where the wheel speed sensor bolts onto the hub assembly on one of the bearings, it broke off. Fortunately, I was able to remove the broken wheel speed sensor, and one of the wheel speed sensors on the hubs I was replacing came out as well. I plugged the old sensor into the new hub, but the ABS light did not come on. If I had been a regular driveway warrior, I doubt I would have had the courage or knowledge to replace an old sensor. br>br>As an aside, one hub arrived in a Detroit Axle box, while the other arrived in a plain brown box with a different language on it. It's not a big deal; I'm aware that these are from China; however, ignorance can be bliss at times. br>br>As for the hubs themselves, they appear to be of good quality and have not caused me any problems (except for the sensor breaking right out of the box). ) The bearings I replaced lasted 370,000 miles; even if they only last a fraction of that, I'll be happy because I can replace them again for the same price.
I was hesitant to buy it because of the negative reviews, but I urgently needed a wheel bearing. I put these in about 6 months ago or longer, and I haven't had any problems since.
- 6/2020 Update - br>It's still going strong with no noises or wheel bearing failures.
My truck has been severely damaged. I've learned my lesson and will no longer purchase this brand!.
These were purchased 18 months ago to replace the ones I had previously purchased. The hub assembly has been made heavier and of higher quality. I'm going to see how long they last. They had all of the ABS wire hold downs as well. Overall, it's a well-made product.
It's lubed and ready to use. The wheel speed sensor connectors and mounting clips are in the proper places. The only issue was reaching the top mounting bolts for proper torque, but that was a GM design flaw.
I had to buy new tire rods because the old ones were the wrong size. For what I needed, I had to pay twice as much. As seen in the illustration. On the left, Amazon's was too short, and on the right, I had to buy the others. br>The truck is slanted to one side, and the coils are uneven.
There's nothing great to say about a wheel bearing set up, but the ABS sensor matched up perfectly with my Avalanche. And I can tell the difference between my old and new bearings right away. Despite the fact that I had read both positive and negative reviews, I decided to give it a shot. I'm glad I did, because now my truck can travel another 300,000 miles.
