Selected User Reviews For Timken 4762N Seal
There is a good reputation for Timken. Quality seals looked and felt like they were made of high-quality materials. In axles like this, the bearings are lubricated with gear lube from the differential, there are no bearing grease packs. To make sure that your system runs smoothly, you need good seals. There were no issues with the installation and I am certain they will function for many years to come.
The rear axles of a Chevy Colorado were fitted with these. I liked the way they looked outside but what impressed me most was how well they fit and how easy it was is a well-known name in the world of aviation.
I had installed them and they leaked within a week, destroying the new parking brakes that I had installed at the same time. 2002 Silverado. There are 3 4WD vehicles. This is not recommended, it is past the 30 day return period, so I cannot return it.
Looks to be a quality product. I try to use Timken seals and bearings whenever possible. This seal looks different to what came off the vehicle, but it installs with minimum fuss. Just tap around the edges of the old seal to loosen it and pry it out with a hammer or small pry bar. It is easy to install. You can tap this in with a block of wood and a dead blow hammer after ensuring the receiving axle does not have burs.
I like what I see.
It is a good match.
All of these seals went in without any effort, and now it's leak free! My favorite items from Timken are those like these, and as long as they continue to make them, I'll keep on.
Exactly what I needed.
