How about Ford's A727 transmission? Is this item compatible with it?

Yes, but to put the transmission on my stand with the tail housing facing downward I had to add a heavy steel plate to raise it up so it wouldn't hit the engine stand if your engine stand is a bit taller than usual.

Would it work on a GMC 350 turbo?

In addition to a Turbo 400, I have also used it.

How does the angle piece compare to the aluminum angle piece?

Metal is used to make the angle piece

In the event that you do not have an OTC brand engine stand, were you able to easily adapt it to suit ?

The mounting holes on the transmission had to be modified to fit my engine stand. And after I mounted it, I couldn't rotate it round and round.
