Your transmission fluid should be changed every other year, in my honest opinion. With so many easy and affordable options, there's no reason not to take advantage of them. The following are some tips to help you A hose clamp and flexible 1/2 inch hose with an inside diameter of 1/2 inch can be purchased at a You can make this easier by attaching the clip to a funnel for easy access to the transmission fill port. Drain the old fluid into a clean container, then measure how much has been drained away. Replacing the cleaned fluid with the exact same amount is fine. As a result, the transmission dipstick does not have to be rechecked as frequently. It was so easy, I just drove it, warmed it up, checked it, then parked Everything was in line with how it should have been. And finally, you don't want to use third party transmission fluids in order to save a few dollars. If you want to use brake fluid or power steering fluid, you can use any oil you want. Be sure to use Genuine Transmission fluid and Genuine Coolant, however. If you fail to do so, you'll regret it when your seals.

A 2004 Pilot at your fingertips! My understanding is that the Pilot's transmission is its weak link when an otherwise reliable vehicle is otherwise unreliable

Many of us never think about the tranny we run the engine oil, change the air filter, etc. , but do not pay attention to the most important item The Honda transmission fluid should be changed every 30,000 miles, but the reality is that when you change the transmission fluid, you're actually only swapping about 3 quarts. The device can hold up to 2 quarts out of an overall capacity of 8 quarts. The fluid had come out quite black in my case after I bought the car and after I changed the fluid I was a bit upset. It has been drained and filled again 3 times now in order to get the fluid to appear more or less clean. I think this should be a clean and safe fluid once more this summer. I will probably drain and fill this pond once a year from now on, just to keep an eye on it, to see how it looks. The good news is that the job is a simple one, maybe 45 minutes at most, but most of that time is spent letting the fluid Vehicles that used to shift well had now improved to shift like butter after using cleaner fluid. As a result, there is absolutely no reason not to be changing your Honda's transmission fluid right now, the process is easy and inexpensive and greatly essential to ensure long-term performance of your vehicle. Honda's transmissions are expensive to replace! Replace it with something else. To get it clean, you may need to do it a few times!

Whatever you do, please don't flush the thing, it's a fast way to ruin your day. Honda ATF is the only type that should be used.

ATF Genuine Honda is the right choice
5/5

The price was great when I bought it, and it's been about a month since I bought it. It was pretty easy to change the transmission fluid at home if you have a couple of jacks and some tools. Get your hands dirty and save yourself some money by doing it yourself if you are comfortable getting a little dirty and you have some light auto mechanic experience. Even with a hot transmission, it is just as easy as doing an oil change - there is only one difference the transmission fluid drains a little slower than oil. I used to think that my 2010 Honda Crosstour only required 3 quarts, but I bought a 4 quart pack with As I filled my gallon jug to the top with all the fluid I had drained out, it became clear that I should actually refill the transmission with all four quarts of fluid. The trans fluid change worked so well that the car ran smooth after the change, and two months later the dipstick is still showing pink colored liquid, and I have only driven about 2K miles since then. When I drained my old trans fluid, it was black, which means that its integrity was greatly compromised and severely needed to be repaired. My recommendation is to use the genuine.

I like it when stuff I recently purchased a 2011 Honda Pilot with 118,000 miles, but it had just 101,500 miles when I bought it back in September 2017

The vehicle had only one owner, and he bought and serviced the vehicle exclusively at the Among other things, the CarFax report indicated that the transmission fluid was changed at 31,000, 61,000, and 91,000 miles on time. Research has revealed that the dealer is only able to do a 1x drain and 3x refill. The recipe makes six quarts. In other words, we did not be surprised when at around 115,000 miles we started experiencing shifting issues that reminded me of torque converter shudder issues we had with It is worth noting that Honda does not recommend doing a full flush and refill for most machines, but suggesting that they do a 4 times 3 instead. Six quarts of water should be drained and refilled. Approximately 90% of what was in the 8 should be replaced with this. This model has a transmission capacity of 4 qt. Those were my first three, so I'll move on to the second three. After the drain and refill of 6 quarts, I was pleasantly surprised at how much smoother the shifts were. Having completed the first three, I am now moving on to the second three. After driving between the drain and the refill, the vehicle has been drained and refilled six times. We will have to repeat this process four times, but I think that we will be able to prolong the life of our My plan is to do a single 3 after that. I would recommend draining and refilling the 6 qt every 15,000 miles or three oil changes. The most common recommendation of domestic vehicle manufacturers is to change transmission fluid at 100,000 miles, or 50,000 miles if "severe service" is required. 30,000 miles is Honda's recommended mileage, but I have no idea why. The majority of the people believe Honda's weak point is its transmissions and perhaps its 3 cylinders. The engine stays fresh with a 6 quart oil change every 30,000 miles. As a mechanic, I believe engine oil is critical to the life of an engine, so I change my oil more often than is required, and I also change my transmission fluid more frequently than necessary. The transmission of your message depends on it.

This is the original transmission fluid for Honda
5/5

Recent purchase of a 1998 civic required that the transmission fluid be drained and refilled. It looked like there was something wrong with the fluid, and the magnetic plug had some metal shavings on it. There were two check engine codes, one for a mismatch between the engine and the torque converter and one for something else I can't remember now. The fluid change was the reason for both codes being stopped. The shift has been smoother since using the new fluid. Having said that, I think it ought to be changed every 30,000 miles. In total, I think the capacity is closer to five to six quarts based on the amount of water I needed to dump and fill. In order to really observe a "change" in fluid, you will need to dump and fill two or three times with a bit of driving in.

Honda transmission fluid is the only one suitable for Honda vehicles
5/5

The mechanic I hire reminded me to get OEM Honda transmission fluid (and he is not a Honda employee). As part of the Honda transmission system, he knows it must be installed. In contrast, my mechanic cost me $40 plus the $38 I spent on purchasing the 4 quarts of fluid on top of the $120 the dealership sought to drain the fluid (permanent filter).
