Questions & Answers
There are a total of 49 pages in this document. I've had a lot of fun working with all of these 'alphabets'!
Only a few alphabets include numbers and other symbols like an ampersand or hashtag, and while I'm not sure where this book is right now (we just moved), I don't recall seeing many, if any, that did.
Graph paper is a good place to count your letters. just to give you an idea of scale Then just do one letter on your fabric to get a sense of scale, and I usually only do one side of the cross stitch with two threads. After that, I either continue or rip out! Counted cross stitch is a guessing game, and that is the creative challenge.
Please accept my apologies for the delay in responding; this book lacks a musical note alphabet.
Selected User Reviews For Alphabets Galore (Leisure Arts #3071)
There are many different alphabets to choose from in this book. They're elegantly designed. On 40 pages, there are more than 130 scripts. I would highly recommend this book to anyone who enjoys cross stitching, whether they are just starting out or have been doing it for years.
I'm disappointed that capital letters aren't used in conjunction with lower case letters.
There are SO MANY FONTS, oh my goodness! Each one is simple to see and copy, and the more complicated examples include a key that explains the different stitches, colors, and other details. It's simple to use, has a lot of variety, and isn't too big or heavy to fit into your crafting bag for travel.
There are a lot of uppercase alphabets in this book, and they all have interesting motifs - Flowers, birds, and crayons are a few of my favorite things. It'd be perfect for monograms, in my opinion. However, I had hoped to see more standard alphabet fonts in various sizes, as well as upper and lower case letters. I intended to use it more for making my own samplers and writing out texts. Only a few alphabets are more "generic," and they do not all have lowercase letters. Backwards letters are used heavily in some alphabets. Cross-stitching is a term that is used to describe the process of stitching. the stitching I believe I will only use a few of the patterns. However, there are a lot of fun alphabets in general.
a more experienced user.
The contents of the book are satisfactory, but there are insufficient lower-case alphabets. Although the majority of the book is written in upper case letters, who writes in all capital letters? I needed this book to write names on Christmas stockings, so I had to settle for one of the upper and lower case alphabets. I'd either state in the description that it's mostly upper case or publish it with both upper and lower case alphabets.
The diversity of the alphabets pleasantly surprised me. There are a lot of adorable options here. My only disappointment is that there are no numbers or punctuation in the alphabets. It's not a big deal, but some of them would have appreciated it. I'm making a Christening gift, and I'd like to include the baby's full name and date of birth. I don't expect numbers for every letter of the alphabet, but a couple would be nice - Something along the lines of a block, scripty, and basic.
This book is exactly what I was looking for for a number of projects. There is a large selection of alphabets to choose from, and the instructions are simple to follow.
