The unit came in quickly and was well made. The welds are excellent. The fit was not perfect, the section had to be cut out, but it was very easy to fix with a grinder. The exhaust was touching the exhaust pipe so I had to adjust. I run Yoshimura exhaust so install time was about 15 minutes. However, the weight is very light and the material is sturdy.
You may need to bend this to install, but I did not need to bend it at all. Unless it works at first, you may need to take off the plate and change the alignment of the standoff by a very slight amount to expose more space in the direction you want. The coverage is good on motors. Feels more like a toy than OEM protection. The outer surface has cutouts that allow for oil drain plugs. It looks like I can also add some highway pegs across the front, but I must figure out how to do it so I don't have to remove the highway pegs before changing However, I'm to blame for all of that. ) One An 8mm hex key was included This bolt is located on the front of the vehicle There is one fastener that is missing from most of the skidplate, yet I am unable to pinpoint (Are there any other bolts on the bike that are 8 mm in diameter? 2) A button socket was used in its place- You can get a head for under a dollar. In the description it states "And as they say" Do not forget to loctite all of your gear!.
Wow! The world wouldn't be as happy as it is for me. It is my pleasure to recommend this. I put it on my 2016 DRZ400S and I am sincerely There were no better thicknesses, welds, airflow holes, access holes, or coverage areas that could be imagined. There are no matches in the world for how it is constructed and for how it wraps around to protect the crankcase too. Apart from the extra thickness over the stock aluminum strip and the plastic crankcase guards, this is the best crankcase guard available on the market. The installation process could not be more straightforward. The same is true for you.
There is a high level of quality and construction behind this This installation takes all of 15 minutes to complete, does not require any permanent modifications, and looks very good. It has adequate protection around all four sides and the smooth bottom allows it to be used with a truck To change the oil, there are provisions (a notch and a hole) for removing the oil from the frame and case. However, you will make much less of a mess if you simply remove the plate (less than a minute-long job). A minor oversight is that it can only protect the rear suspension dog bones and bellcrank to a minimal level. This plate certainly wouldn't help you catch the suspension parts if you were to slide your bike over obstacles, however, it would be a good choice for most of the hits to the engine cases, particularly those to the engine cooling system. A 2021 DRZ-II is running it My 400S is in perfect working order.
Designed for a Drz400E, I installed this skid. Bolt holes on the bottom of the plate are not aligned with the plate. It was Devol's opinion that there were no differences between E and S only the bolt on plate was off by a small amount. It held up fine with four bolts out of five, even with only one screw left to go. By flushing out mud and water from the slots, mud can be cleaned up. The welds are very good. The overall construction is very good. In addition to the motor cases, it protects them.
Despite being a good skid plate, the hardware that came with it is of lower quality. With rubber washers between the skid plate and the frame, it was installed properly. When the engine is running, it vibrates like a tuning fork, and the sound is rather loud, making me think my bike engine might blow. Several people have experienced this problem in the forums. Based on the information I have found, I'll try placing a little weather stripping between the skid plate and frame.
There's no denying it the Devol skid plate looks good, is beastly solid, and has a design that allows for decent airflow while looking good. It just looks like you'd get it as a stock part on a DRZ400 As a result, it blends seamlessly with the background. Furthermore, it is very easy to assemble, and it takes just a half-hour to put it on your bike. This is the type of DRZ I would purchase again if I ever get another.
A professional quality weld is provided. The cover covers the factory plastic covers nicely, and goes over the water pump well. The installation of the plastic isolators proved to be a bit tricky I recommend going front to back with the bolts so you can secure them in place easily.
