There are several factors to consider, including the depth of the cap, and the diameter of the axle nut. bike, but the diameter of the cover was a bit smaller than the axle nut, but it didn't go To fix it I drilled out the center of the cover, found an acorn nut, and polished stainless steel to fit the threads of the axle ! The scene really looked good, I wish I could have taken a picture! He used to be a serviceman who no longer lives here, not sure where he is based I did it as a favor, and did not charge him for it! It would be best for you to measure the axle nut on the axle and the length of the axle from swingarm to the end. If you use the Acorn nut, make sure the threads are correct. The belt tensioner bolts are recessed into the tops of the caps and have notches cut out for them to fit over the taller cap. A HD Softail should have this. It is not correctly positioned, however, as the allen set screw is not oriented Set screws like this one are incorrect in two ways This is 1. It is set too far out from the base of the cap, so that either you have to tighten it on the washer edge (not 100% face contact), or you have to align the set screw with the axle nut, exposing what you were . * *2. In order for you to not see the set screws, they should be pointing down to the road. There is no such thing as this! When installing axel nut caps in smooth chrome, they are facing straight up which is just not the right aesthetic. If someone thinks that it is a good idea to install them upside down, make sure that the set screw is on the other side I know that's not what you meant since one cap is taller (to accommodate the axle nut and cotter pin), while the other is a little shorter to cover the axle bolt head, so they're both simply manufactured incorrectly. There are no recommendations for the Harley Davidson Heritage Softail Classic with these tires.
It was so easy to install them and the bike looks brand new and clean. There is no point in thinking too much about this you will love the result.
