"It's all good now," says the narrator. I looked everywhere for a less than $100 shifter knob. This knob will not tighten up; you get what you pay for. br>"UPDATE"br>"UPDATE"br>"UPDATE"br>"UPDATE"br>"UPDATE"br>"UPDATE"br>"UPD After contacting the seller and being advised to use Super Glue (do not use Super Glue), I decided to try it myself. I gave it one more shot, and it seems to be working. "Red Loctite" was used to coat the shifter's threads, tighten the knob, and leave it for 24 hours; it appears to be holding firm.
This was an excellent buy. The OEM did not appear to be worth $100 to me. This is 100 like the Toyota one except it doesn't say TRD on the back of the back of the back of the back of the back of the back of the back of The build quality is excellent, and it fits perfectly in my 21 TRD sport.
Many online "reviews" of the genuine Yota knob claim that it needs the stem to be extended in order to function properly. This one didn't, and it's a cinch to use. One note: It didn't tighten as tightly as the stock knob, but it didn't spin freely and didn't feel flimsy or unstable. It's a great upgrade over stock for 4th generation 4Runners. 👍🏻.
The cost is half that of the OEM model, but the quality is on par. When I took it out of the box and installed it (literally screw on/off), I was not disappointed at all. Both the leather and plastic pieces have a distinct leather section and TRD embossing that is free of marks or scratches. br>br>Before rotating on the metal shifter column, I made sure to apply some Loctite threadlocker blue to ensure that the shift knob was secure and would not rotate. Allow it to cure for at least 24 hours or overnight for the best results. br>br>Looks great in my 4th generation 4Runner, especially since I'm updating the exterior. It's just a small detail that adds to the interior design. Overall, a fantastic purchase that comes highly recommended. br>br> Take advantage of the opportunity to save money by purchasing this item.
It appears to be in good condition, but the top plastic piece and the sides are misaligned. I don't think it's enough to entice me to go through the return process, but that's just my opinion. This is why I gave it four stars instead of five. TRD is written on the label.
Solid construction with a great feel and look. It was just as simple to put on as the original. My original was black and silver, which had a lot of scratches on the silver because I wear a ring on my right hand; however, not only does this fix that, but I also love the clean, darker look of the black. For half the price of a genuine manufacturer's shifter. There's no way to go wrong with this one!.
It doesn't fit properly; I tightened it until I felt resistance, but it's still loose. I'm afraid I'm going to snap the threads if I go any further. It's not completely black; instead, it's black with a red stripe. It has a pleasant feel to it, but it is a complete waste of time. I didn't make it back before the deadline.
Having said that, you'd never notice the flaws. It's made of the same leather as every other TRD shifter I've owned in the past. The weight is the same. Overall, the quality is the same. It was even stamped with the TRD logo.
