You could feel hot air from the motor coming up through the floor, through the center console, and into the cabin because the inner shifter boot (underneath the center console) was 20 years old and completely rotted out. This was a perfect match for the original. The most difficult part was removing the console to get to it (which took a few minutes), but after that it was just four screws and 30 seconds to replace it. For the next 20 years, I should be fine! This was for a Jeep TJ SE 2 from 1998. br>br> 5l 4cyl. br>br>P br>br>5 br>br>P br>br> It's a lot cooler now in the cabin!.
We were unable to pinpoint the source of the heat. Finally, I read on a forum that if the transmission's inner boot is torn, heat from the transmission blows into the center console, warms drinks in the cup holder (which it did), and then blows out onto the driver's right foot. So I ordered it, it took ten minutes to install, and my feet are no longer burning! I'm very pleased with my purchase. Jeep TJ (2000 model).
My 98 TJ's inner shifter boot had completely failed, and replacing it reduced engine noise and fumes significantly, but it was a difficult task. To install the new part, I had to disassemble and unbolt the metal frame around my stick shift from the center console. There was a lot of sweating and cursing, but once I was done, it made a huge difference.
It's a perfect fit; no more heat, noise, or road grime in the cab; I had to order two because the first one was misplaced by the mail carrier; If your mail carrier isn't careless or stupid, bring it here; the cost is half of what it would be elsewhere! br>br>I've never seen packaging like this before, and I like how simple it is.
The edge is sealed with a plastic ring. I replaced it without having to remove the console; all I had to do was remove the shifter boot and loosen the front of the console. In under 30 minutes, you'll be done.
I bought this product to make a plate to mock this up on a 98 Cherokee boot, and it was really good quality, thick rubber, and a nice boot. I'd recommend it to anyone.
BA10 5Speed is a combination of 0 and BA10. It took some massaging to get it to fit, but it was nearly perfect. As I drive, there will be no more hot air in the cabin!.
If your Jeep is around 20 years old (which it is), this item is most likely torn in your vehicle. It's a little on the expensive side, but it's well worth it. This is a thick rubber material that reduces road noise and, more importantly, the transmission's intense heat! br>br>I live in Arizona, where the sun provides ample heat. I didn't need any more hot air coming from my handbrake, and this took care of that!.
