Questions & Answers

Is there anyone who has had this for a few years and can comment on its quality? The factory broke down, and the replacement only lasted six months before breaking down. ?

If you run a lot with the top down, keep it Armor All'ed every few weeks. My replacement boot hasn't caused any issues for me. I've been driving the jeep for a few years now.

Will this work on a Jeep Wrangler from 1997?

This, I believe, is only for the third generation, which runs from 2007 to the present. 2017 br>It was a perfect fit for my 2007 Jeep Wrangler.

My shifter's plastic ring has disintegrated and is sliding around, making shifting difficult. Is this what I need?

This boot's plastic ring is secured to the underside with plastic rivets. If those rivets come loose, the entire assembly must be replaced. Once you remove the shift knob, it's a simple task. For help removing the knob, look up YouTube videos. It's a trial, that's for sure.

How big is the boot in real life? I'd like to use it on a different vehicle for which I can't find a replacement part.?

The oval plastic frame measures ten inches wide by ten inches long. 7/8" x 3/8" The boot measures ten by seven inches. It is delivered in a single piece. The plastic rivets on my factory one came undone.

In first gear, it's far too stiff
3/5

It's difficult to shift all the way into first gear while wearing this boot. Because the rubber isn't soft enough, it won't fully fold when shifting into first and third gears. When I don't forcefully jam it all the way up, 1st gear now slams/pops out on a regular basis. It's a real pain. I'm hoping it will eventually break in and loosen up.

Amazing
5/5

Awesome! It's a BREEZE to set up. It took me exactly 5 minutes. I sat in my center council seat like everyone else and yanked hard on my shift knob while twisting it slightly, and it popped right off. After that, I removed the oval plate from my old cover by unscrewing it. This replacement is so simple to install that it can be done in a matter of seconds. Place the front side first, then gently press down on the back side until the small clips snap into place. That concludes our discussion. So easy! I believe it is overpriced, but it is well worth the money. It's pretty legit because of the packaging, which was exceptional and had mopar labels all over it. Don't put it off any longer; purchase it now.

a fantastic substitute My original boot had a hole in it from some unknown cause, and the transmission noise was unbearable
5/5

That issue was resolved with the use of this replacement boot.

See photos for an example of a significant improvement at a low cost
5/5

Boot and bezel include a subframe, which is a great improvement at a low cost. Getting the shifter knob off was the most difficult part. However, you can watch videos on YouTube. I used a pipe wrench and a rag to remove the ccw and rotated it a little. It took me only 2 minutes to complete the installation.

Excellent original equipment manufacturer part! I was able to remove the shift knob from my 2007 Jeep JK after removing it from the vehicle
5/5

Installing this was a breeze. The shift knob is a pain to remove; all you have to do is keep pulling, twisting, and yanking until it comes off. This component was easy to install and works flawlessly.
