Rather than going to a dealer, buy this. My wife's car's trigger broke, so I had it checked out at the dealer and asked them to estimate how much it would cost to replace the broken plastic shifter trigger. It worked, but it was a pain to use and frequently jammed. br>br>They gave me a quote of 130 dollars for parts and 200 dollars for labor. 330 dollars is the total price. No thanksbr>br>I paid $16 for this. Removed the old handle, slid this one on, and snapped it back into place after reattaching the leather to the underside. It took 15 minutes for me to complete. It's the small victories that count. I would strongly suggest it.
I'm a 54-year-old woman, and the plastic peace on my Buick Veronos gear shifter broke. I ordered this one the next day before noon, and it was fixed in 30 minutes. I did have to break plastic pieces to get the old shifter off, but it was easy to do. The new shifter works fine as long as you don't pull up on it because I don't think it locks, but I never have to, so it's fine.
This was a low-cost replacement for our Buick Verano's nice stock know, which was a pain to remove: br>br>First, remove the plastic shield from beneath the gear shift. A too-short leather strap is used to keep the leather attached to the stick. Ziptie is a small ziptie. You can either break it and replace it, or you can try to release it with pliers and then replace it. br>br>After that, I suggest removing the plastic covers from your existing knob. It's the nice leathery one on which your palm rests. You should be able to compress the little plastic tabs that hold it on with a small screw driver. br>br>After that, you'll need to remove the old knob. To do this, according to one video I found, you must press down on the button beneath the old knob. I held it down with a screwdriver for 20 minutes while yanking on it. When you look inside the original and new knobs, you can see the difference in quality of the plastic bits. I replaced the janky one on this new knob with the nice leather cover that came with my old knob. At the very least, it gives the impression of being the same. ish, and the knob's button has been reattached. br>br>In summary, it was a low-cost but time-consuming repair. I recommend it if you want to save a few hundred dollars at the dealership, but you will be purchasing a lower-quality part than a Buick stock part. In my opinion, it is still worthwhile.
It's simple to install: remove the boot, place it in neutral, and press the trigger. If you already have one, pull straight up very hard to remove it without breaking it.
It was simple to put in; the old one was obviously broken, but it should pull straight up now. The shift knob must be separated from the boot at the base. Replace the boot after the new shifter knob has been slid into place. It took about ten minutes to complete the procedure.
Aside from that, this is a relatively straightforward fix.
The item was a perfect fit. Shipping is very quick.
The product was damaged, and I noticed it when it was not in use. wrapped. But, alas, I had already completely destroyed the previous one. As a result, I didn't throw it away. However, the overall quality was acceptable, the price was reasonable, and the installation took less than 15 minutes! Watching a video is a great way to pass the time.
