As there are already gears inside, it's a pretty easy process to replace them.
During the last few years, I have replaced the venture gear reduction on my 2007 Keystone Everest 5th wheel with an aluminum cast-off As an alternative to Venture's sheared off plastic case, I feel more confident with the aluminum one.
In my research back then, I found that this would fit many other units when I added it to the side of my unit. The brands may be different but they seemed like they were designed for specific applications, so I would imagine they would fit as they are universal.
All of them are almost interchangeable, with some being stronger than others, but what you pay for is what you get.

One star because the product is not the same as advertised. It is not a problem with the gear box I received, except that it is a Ventura / Lippert part in a Stromberg Carlson box. In spite of what the photo appears to show, the cabinet is not black. Despite the fact that it appears to have solid shear pins, it is not.
driving my 5th wheel Toy Hauler in the middle of nowhere when the plastic housing on the original Gear Box broke. This left me stuck since I could not lift the trailer high enough to lift it over the axle. My truck was on the road in no time thanks to some redneck engineering. I called local trailer sales and the price of the trailer was beyond belief. The trailer was made of Honestly, I wasn't in a great deal of a hurry. I left the trailer connected to my truck, and ordered the Spartan Aluminium housing gearbox. There is only one type of gearbox on all landing gear, as far as I can tell. I had a working landing gear again in two days after receiving the landing gear, but I had taken twenty minutes to replace the gear. In case of needing another, I ordered one extra. It should last me many years despite the amount of time I spend in the trailer, but at this price, it is the best insurance I can get. A Stromgerg made of Aluminum is highly recommended.
My 2003 Keystone Cougar 295 with Fulton landing gear needed a part not made by Stromberg Carlson but worked perfectly for it. (Fulton apparently does not make any replacement landing gear parts for its aircraft) This is not a black part made by Venture Manufacturing. The Company. Although it comes with misleading pictures and title, this part is solid and works as advertised.
A while ago, I posted a question about a noisy gearbox, but as it turns out, it wasn't the gearbox, but the new motor that I installed at the same time. It seems to be working fine.
the wind no longer blows in my feet when I am on a fifth wheel after putting it in. The OEM plastic crap is much weaker in comparison to the metal gears!.
This gearbox fit perfectly into our 2003 Dutchman 5th wheel. I had to change the motor, and as soon as I disassembled the motor, I realized the gear box was rotten as well, so I jumped on here and purchased it. The fit is perfect and it works well. It's time to put an end to hand craning!.
It is far superior to what was supplied by the factory.
