As you can see in the photo, the white strip on the side is peeled back and the adhesive is With this Super Cap Seal XL, I was able to seal the cap well. This seal provides a good seal once it has been installed. We have not experienced any leaks, even during heavy Florida rains!
Yes, that's the short answer. The foam tape does not have to be a specific cap kind, as it replaces the usual You will need to measure the circumference of your bed to determine its length. The bed is 8' long to fit the 8' Chevrolet pickup.

You must know whether you need ) measure the difference in height between the side bed rails of the truck (including, if necessary, rail caps) and the front bed rail of the truck. In the case of a gap of height Super Cap Seal XL must be installed on a cap length of 250 inches or less. A gap of is raised to a height of Put 251" in front of The cap's front base rail needs to have Front Rail Seal installed, and Super Cap Seal XL 20ft has to be installed The gap must be at least one inch high if it is extra-large This is a large image. Then, affix "488" to that number. For 875" caps, install XL Super Cap Seal 20ft on the front and side base rails of the cap, and install front rail seal on the bed rail of the truck.

The problem is. Although this is an excellent product, there are a few glitches. Based on my measurements, it "should have" been long enough to fit over my 8 ft aluminum truck cap. There were about eight inches to a "short". While I didn't waste any time, I made the proper notches, but they came up short. It would have been helpful if I had measured it "Before" I unrolled and started cutting, since I thought it wasn't long enough when I first saw it. As I was working in cold weather, I had to hurriedly finish the project and so didn't take the time to "Measure" the length of the roll before I began. (I'm sorry! rolled some workout mat to the same thickness and filled in the last seven inches There is an 8" gap under the cap. It was a good product that was easy to install and cut per the directions, but about 8" short of the size needed by a standard 8' truck cap that fits an early 90's Ford As for the outside measurements, it was 22'8" on this cap, so it was at least seven inches short (the roll length). The smallest is 8"! There is an advertisement for a 23' boat. I do not believe it was.
In the end, I decided to use this weather stripping instead of regular foam, but my cousin spotted it on Amazon and thought it would be a great alternative, so I looked at it and agreed with him. There was a statement in the description stating that it reduced vibration, which is something I didn't think of before. It was obvious that the company that removed the cap 6 years ago used the cheap adhesive stripping I intended to buy. The adhesive had rotted away and the cap was glued to bare metal. I cleaned the metal with steel wool and orange cleaner so that the adhesive would adhere. When I checked after the rain, the back of the truck was totally dry! I installed the Super Cap Seal, put on the cap, and tested the system for a few days. Any truck driver who has a water leak in the back of his pick up or car should do this.
It appeared to be of a high quality and had a thick layer. My expectations were much higher than the adhesive turned out to be based on In the end, I didn't need the weatherstripping adhesive I purchased. In addition, the provided instructions are good and easy to comprehend. There is a substantial difference in thickness between this seal and the original foam gasket that came with my ARE top. As the topper sits higher now, the silicone seal looks more substantial and the seal looks more substantial too. Due to the 5' bed on my Chevy Colorado, I had a lot of leftover seal. You will see the quality of this seal right away if you purchase it. There's no need for the foam junk when this seal works so well.
There is an 8 foot Chevy Silverado box and a cap of 8 feet fiberglass on my 2009 Leer 8 foot truck. Due to time and wear, the original seal has begun to fail. It is time to replace it. A 23 ft. ESI Super Cap Seal xl. The response I received was very short! Despite its size, it is only 22 feet 4 inches in length! In order to fit my needs, I needed 22 feet 8 inches. After installing the new seal, I discovered I had come up 4 inches short! I should have measured before I installed the new seal. The short seal is going to force me to make do with what scraps I have.
You might need more at some point. When you are installing a fiberglass top, you might run out of the tiny tubes of "activator" because it evaporates so To make ends meet, I did my best. Two tiny tubes would be better than four, and the kit could come with four rather than just two. After we began, it was somewhat stressful to realize we may not have enough to cover all costs. A Leer hi top is installed on an 8 foot bed of a F 250. The rubber is plenty enough to cover the area with a couple of inches It was a bit challenging to get the cut right on the first corner. We cut the second version without a hitch. It's a good thing there's a bit of seal left over.
There is a good amount of seal here, much better than the smashed foam strip that I had on my top. A huge leak had been coming from it as it slipped around. It appears so far to be dry now that it stays out. One star was taken off since it did not come with the adhesive promoter or alcohol wipes specified on the package and instructions. There was something lacking in the adhesive, but I suppose that's what the promoter is for, but I couldn't tell since I didn't have any with me or happened to have any on hand. Otherwise, it was fine.
After using it for some time now, I've been through many storms and splashed through a few creeks where it got wet. Aside from the top of the topper, it was completely dry. A wonderful feature of the product is the goo they included for sealing the corners. I would definitely consider this to be.
This seal seemed like an awesome item when I ordered it and I was super stoked when I received it. It is the same issue that other long box owners have mentioned the seal was approximately 6 inches too short for my truck with an 8 foot bed, which caused me to fabricate a piece from an I spliced in the old seal about 3 years ago, but it began leaking at the seam where I connected it. that I've discovered that my topper is a major hassle to remove, I can't help but be disappointed. This concern is of concern to me, and I hope that the manufacturer reads this review and addresses it as I would have paid a few more dollars for an inch more of seal to ensure my safety.
