On my 8 year old John Deere cart, I used this coupler with the two holes on top. Two holes from the old hitch don't match up with the two on the new cart, so I had to drill two new 3/8" holes.
Buying this for a trailer I renovated was a great purchase. Due to the fact that it was black and the colors I wanted to use were black and grey, I liked it. I used the trailer as a kayak trailer when I finished, and I have since used it for that purpose. I had no safety issues with the coupler. It works as it should. There is only one problem, because the hitch won't let go. My only option is to pry up the release under the coupler with a pry bar in order to remove it. My jack is just about strong enough to lift my vehicle's rear tires off the ground when I pop the latch and lift it. I find that weird because there is no problem with it. The coupler I am using is actually still the same, but I will be replacing it shortly. I only benefit in that my trailer will not be stolen.
With the power of the built lawn tractor, my Garden Way cart that's over 30 years old can easily go up steep hills with 400 pound Developed the lawn tractor into an even more effective tool. Since I don't have any 2" square steel in my shop, I made a trailer tongue from the best scraps of hardwood in my shop and planed it until it was the perfect size for the 2" square hitch.
In any case, I had contacted the company's support and was redirected to their email address when I tried to explain what had happened. Have you tried to reach them but couldn't get through? It's weird. I sent back the new one.
According to the description, it is for 3" channel. However, it is in fact for 2' & 3' Then adjust the screw to 5/8" However, the coupler is bent in such a way that it does not allow a flush mount to 3" tubing the angles of the couplings need to be more square or sharper on the bends, but it works well and appears to be durable.
A rotted on hitch was replaced with this new one. To get it to accept the ball, I have to pry it open every time. There may be a wear-in period and it will become more free. This is the first time I've ever had a trailer hitch lock up in such a manner. You should buy a Reese towpower and go elsewhere. I am sure you will not regret it.
You're lucky to have them. It works well. In this way, I always install couplers when possible.
